Hello! My name is Janice. I am an Acupuncturist, Herbalist and Massage Therapist nearing retirement. I own a rural plot of land in Northern Arkansas with 80 acres, three ponds and a large house with the choice of two different guest bedrooms. I live alone with my friendly cat Punkie Sue but do occasionally have a gregarious young man here who helps with gardening. He is currently putting a lot of effort into establishing a community garden in Little Rock and so he is spending most of his time there but has a lot of knowledge of permaculture and other organic gardening methods that hes always eager to share if your paths cross.

My situation might not currently meet the criteria of a full-scale farm but there is a lot of potential here for developing garden beds for herbs and vegetables, maintaining and possibly expanding my small orchard, planting berries or grape vines and just about anything that would work with the local climate. There are Farmers Markets nearby during the warmer months and many farmers, gardeners and craftspeople in the area that specialize in everything from organic meat and eggs to pottery, leather work, stained glass, carved spoons, lace, you name it!

I have knowledge of American and Chinese herbs and periodically harvest wild herbs (sustainably!) to make tinctures or for other medicinal uses. I have lived in this area for close to 30 years and while some of the outside perceptions of Arkansas do have some accuracy there is a thriving community of open-minded people in the Ozarks if you know where to look!

Feel free to contact me with any questions and I will do my best to give you an idea of the area attractions and types of friendly folks who make up the local community here!

(P. S. The dog in the photo (Archie) is sadly no longer here with me- he passed away a few years ago.)
