We are Maureen and Steve. We have a small hobby farm close to Whangaroa Harbour. We have a cat, chickens and sheep in addition to a large garden, a recently planted orchard and grounds that we are developing.

We use sprays and chemicals sparingly. We are also caretakers of a magnificent bush remnant that we have started doing pest control in.

We are looking for helpers to do a variety of tasks on our small holding. These tasks would include working in our organic gardens, small building projects, landscaping, general maintenance work, caring for animals and pest control.

Our preference is for couples or independent singles as you may often be working by yourself/ves. We prefer those who can stay for a week minimum. During Labour weekend (26 - 28 October) you would have the weekend free but would be expected to feed yourselves.

You have your own space whilst you are here. 3 rustic ex Department of Conservation cabins serve as very comfortable and welcoming accommodation with stunning views of our beautiful bush (see photo).

In exchange for a minimum of 4 hours of your time each day you get to stay in this wonderful accommodation and receive 3 meals a day, or you could work a full day and have a whole day off to explore this beautiful part of the world.

Help with the preparation of meals, doing dishes and assisting in other small household tasks is expected.

During your leisure time there is the beautiful Whangaroa Harbour to explore, (we have three kayaks available) and D.O.C.walking tracks in the vicinity including one to a kauri dam and water fall. Our favourite surf and swimming beach is Taupo Bay - 20km up the road.

Having your own transport is beneficial to be able to explore the area, however the bus stops just down the road at Kahoe Backpackers where we can pick you up.

We look forward to welcoming you for a mutually rewarding experience!
