Private small organic farm with sheep, rabbits (for eating), milking goats, dogs, cat, horse and a koi. Located in beautiful lush flora and fauna of the Puna rainforest, on the Big Island of Hawai'i..

Helpers will be asked to do farm chores and housekeeping. Anything from milking a goat to washing windows to juicing lilikoi. Helpers will be able to eat the fruits of their labor.

We are looking for EXPERIENCED helpers. With references and experience. Someone who will be able to hit the ground running and make a firm commitment of 3-4 weeks. It usually takes a couple days to learn the routine of the farm animals.

This is a remote area with VERY limited bus service.
You are responsible for your own transportation and your own work clothes/gloves and related items. What you don't want to travel with you can buy locally and donate locally when you leave?

There is limited cell reception but then this isn't the place, ....if you need to be on a social network and want to post pictures on instagram? not here please. There are things to do in your off time. A beautiful beach in hiking distance 5 mi. There is a wood shop and an art studio, yoga space on a parquet stage with morning sun coming through the stained glass panels, after the goats are milked. There are jobs that may include welding, carpentry, plumbing and electrical as well, because on a farm you need to DIY most of the time.

Looking for critical thinkers. Responsible, reliable and punctual. After all my animals can sure tell time, and are on time every day. We are up by 6:00 a.m. and in bed all quiet by 10:00 p.m. An the animals have built in clocks.

If you are lactose intolerant, vegan/vegan/raw this would not be a good spot as we do a lot of dairy. On the menu daily we have; Goat milk and cheese, free range eggs, rabbit stew, all organic. Whatever veggies are happening at the time. Fruit trees include a couple dozen mango trees, as many coconut trees, a mac nut, lychee and avocado. There is lots of papaya, lilikoi (passion fruit), guava, bananas, mulberry and starfruit.

Plan for your stay to begin at the first of the month so you can help with the unloading of the first of the month animal feed/run, which if coincides with your arrival it could include a pick up ride from the airport. And you could grab what you need from town before we head to the farm.

Lots of work, lots of fun, lots of animals and lots of beauty. LGBTQ et. al. Friendy :)
