This is an opportunity to sail the Hawaiian islands as preparation for a longer trip in the South Pacific and beyond.

If you only have a short time available to volunteer, even just a few days, there is always the opportunity to help with boat projects in exchange for accommodation and sailing lessons(food is not provided). This is very popular. There would be no ocean sailing but even just life at anchor in Hawaii for a short time can be an experience. No specialized skills are necessary to assist with boat projects. An extra set of hands is help enough. Projects are usually short and simple, about an hour or two of work maximum per day.

The trip to the South Pacific is clearly a longer time commitment and time should be spent learning the boat within the Hawaiian islands first before the longer voyage. Sailing within Hawaii is a great way to find out if ocean sailing is something you would like to do. The focus will be on visiting the more remote locations that are rarely visited where traditional culture still exists. The route will be more a more northern one than the beaten path that most sailing boats take. Destinations will include Tokelau, Wallis, Tuvalu, outer islands of Kiribati and the Santa Cruz group of the Solomons. A re provisioning break may be taken in Fiji. There are many details and concerns about the South Pacific trip that are best discussed in person. At this time, there is not a set schedule for the departure from Hawaii.

The boat is equipped with a tandem kayak and a wooden eight foot sailing pram. Both of these are excellent for exploring the current anchorage and surrounding area.

An interest in surfing is a plus because if the waves are good, the boat will stay in one place for a bit. Two surf boards on board, 7`10 and 7`2". Spanish speaker also a plus as the skipper needs practice.

The skipper is originally from the San Francisco bay area and has over 70,000 miles of sailing experience which includes a single handed circumnavigation.

Currently located in Hanalei, Kauai in Hawaii.
