We are a well-travelled Australian/Irish couple living on a smallholding in rural County Carlow. We are 7 kilometres outside of Bagenalstown, which has train and bus access to Kilkenny, Carlow, and Dublin. Our property has beautiful views across fields toward Mt Leinster, and is close to several well known walking trails.

We have four friendly cockapoo dogs (poodle x cocker spaniel), that look and act like teddy bears and have free run of the house and farm yard. Unfortunately, the property is not suited to anyone that does not enjoy the company of dogs.

The smallholding produces fruit, vegetables, and meat for our own consumption. We keep ducks, geese, chickens, goats, pigs, and guinea fowl. All animals are free-ranging and fed natural, unprocessed foods (our heritage pigs are ranged outdoors in a well sized field).

In the Summer, we run natural building courses in hemp lime, host other natural building courses on our property, and frequently ask artists and artisans to run classes in our buildings.

We do not use chemicals, and re-use all our waste materials. The property uses composting toilets, rain water, and wood heating, and anyone staying will need to be mindful of resource use.

We always have many projects on the go - in the garden, in the kitchen, with the animals, and on the many cut stone buildings on the property. We welcome any workers on a short term basis to help with these projects and learn something new. Nadja, especially, is a natural coach who loves sharing her knowledege of building techniques with women who may not have had the chance to work extensively with tools and building materials.

Accommodation will be in your own room in the farmhouse, and you're welcome to eat with us, or prepare your own meals. Our meals are not traditionally Irish, but multicultural, and reflect our backgrounds and love of food.

Hours and other conditions are flexible, and will be negotiated with you in advance. Let us know if you have any special conditions with respect to hours, work, or if you have any past medical conditions that my affect the type of work you can comfortably do. In all cases, we will try to accommodate you.

**Please note that since Ireland has a cold temperate climate, we can not grow or source enough locally grown plant-based food to support a balanced vegan or vegetarian diet. Although not all of our meals contain meat, we do cook regularly with animal fats, milk, and eggs, and cannot adequately accommodate vegan or vegetarian helpers.
