We operate a cattle farm situated in the beautiful, pristine alpine national park, Victoria, just 1 hr from Dargo, 2 hrs from Bairnsdale and 6 hrs from Melbourne. We look forward to welcoming you to our farm and into our family. We are a fairly cosmopolitan family with Chinese, East Timorese and Peruvian members of extended family. We would be happy to show you around the area and try to make your stay as interesting and informative as possible. While not strictly an organic farm we do observe organic principals. There is a mud brick house on the farm as well as a swing bridge over the river. There is trout fishing platypus viewing and kayaking available in the Wonnangatta river running through the farm. We are totally self sufficient with our own solar set up providing electricity, orchard, extensive vegetable garden and chickens. The Alpine National Park is a pristine area with deer, wombats and kangaroos. We are looking for someone to help with gardening, splitting and stacking firewood, fencing and general farm duties for up to 4 hours a day. We have ride on lawn mower and mechanical log splitter which makes these chores fun. Competence with operating a chainsaw and farm machinary would be an advantage but not essential. Though isolated we have lots of interesting people coming and going all the time. We can collect you from railway station in Bairnsdale if need be. There is only limited internet due to our isolation and recommend you have your open data plan with a Telstra mobile phone if wishing to download data.A minimum of two weeks would be desirable. Accommodation is provided in luxury homestead with your own bathroom and all meals included. Your own personal insurance would be needed.
