I am a seasoned traveller and a trained cook. My project is to turn a short school bus into an off-grid travelling community kitchen, to go from California to South America, stopping and helping at farms along the way and collecting any excess food they may have to make meals for anyone else I meet along the way, because everyone deserves a decent meal.

I am about halfway finished with the conversion. The first phase of acquiring the bus and converting it to run of off veggie oil is pretty much complete (I just drove a test run about 600km for $0.54). The second phase, which we are working on now, involves the creation of the kitchen. This will include installation of a solar set-up, a water system, and the design and execution of a stove that runs on veggie oil.

PLEASE READ: I have been getting a lot of requests to help and that is great and I would love to include as many people as I can to participate in this project that want to, but the reality is we all work differently and in different ways, so please tell me how you would see yourself volunteering at this project. I will try to take as many people as I can comfortably fit here, so be aware, you may be sharing a room with other people if you are here when there's other volunteers. Unless you have a skill that is very particular and needs more time, I will mostly be accepting people for a week as a trial period to see how we work together and such and then possibly longer if we both feel good about it.

Here are some of the projects I can use help with at the time of this writing.

- Plumbing a water system with filter, heater and pump
- Designing a stove to run on veggie oil ()
- Design and construction of storage area
- Building a solar dehydrator()
- Building a solar oven ()
- Building a small micro-green garden
- There will be some mechanical things to work on the bus from time to time
- Mounting and wiring a solar panel system
- Design to make things look nice and the most efficient
- Various carpentry and welding projects
- Filtering vegetable oil

There's always other random things we may end up doing if you don't have any particular skills that pertain to this project, but still want to help. There's always room for at least one person that is just up for cleaning and things like that to make it that everyone else can focus on what they are working on without getting distracted.

Meals will be provided with the freshest possible ingredients.

The room will usually be shared. The house is in need of renovation, but that will not be something we work on, but it's live-able. There is a bathroom/shower upstairs and a laundry machine downstairs that you will have access to 24/7.

What else ...

I volunteer at Food Not Bombs and Curry Without Worry to make free meals for anyone twice a week and there's some other interesting places I frequent and can show

There is no expectation, I just want guests who want to work on a project they are interested in, productively.. If it's something you are interested in doing then I am sure we will work in conjunction with enjoying ourselves
