We are a not-for-profit organisation based in Devon in South West England running UK and European training projects that help people achieve their goals for nature, science, education and employment. We're based on a stunning 80-acre organic next to the River Dart and is managed for nature, food and learning. The farm is Soil Association organic certified and is under Higher Level Stewardship - our small herd of cattle and flock of sheep graze the land to improve biodiversity.

On the farm we also host a charity that helps adults with learning difficulties who engage in our fulfilling agricultural activities and the daily running of the farm.

Job description

We're looking for lovely and enthusiastic person to help us with the improvement and maintenance of our market garden as well as general duties across the farm.

While some gardening skills would be preferable, we are able to provide training for the work you'll be doing. What's most important to us is that you share our passion for organic growing, nature conservation, and working outdoors.

We will also be able to provide training in our organic practices, using tools and equipment as well as wildlife conservation.

To ensure that we maintain our inspiring and supportive working environment it's important to us that every gets on well. To suit this position you'll have great interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own.

As an important part of our team you'll, of course, be required to be punctual and reliable. To make sure the farm is a safe place for all, it's also vital that you are willing to follow our health & safety requirements.

Your Accommodation
You'll be staying in our homely bunkhouse on the farm. You'll get your own single room and will share the living area (open plan kitchen/dining/living room) and 2 shower rooms with other volunteers or trainees. There's a cosy wood burning stove in the living room and the bunkhouse is situated in a beautiful leafy area.

Though there is no internet connection in the living accommodation, you are welcome to use the wi-fi in the farm office, just a minute's walk from the bunkhouse.

The Local Area
We're situated 2.5 miles from the bohemian, market town of Totnes, which is famous for its independent shops and alternative minded community. If you don't have a car then you can easily reach town via the cycle/foot path that passes through fields and along the river Dart.

Also in the area, you'll find fantastic beaches, water sports, hiking, running and cycling opportunities.
