March 2020 - 1 place available
April onwards - volunteers needed

****Are you passionate about working with rescue dogs? Please contact us ****

We are looking for people to volunteer with the day-to-day running of the dog refuge. We currently have over 70 dogs/puppies on site.

5 hours a day. The working hours are 08:00-11:00 and 16:00-18:00 - but please be flexible. One day off a week. The work is 90% cleaning. Including cleaning the kennels, washing food bowls, doing the laundry (dog blankets and towels) ensuring the volunteer house is kept clean etc.

The rest of the time is your own - you do not need to be at the refuge. However, if you are interested you are welcome to help with other jobs or take the dogs out for walks to the beach etc etc. There are a lot of learning opportunities for someone who wants to gain experience/knowledge of working with rescue dogs.

Volunteers MUST have basic experience of handling dogs or at least must be very confident around dogs, some of which are large breeds. Our dogs have many different back-grounds some have not always been treated with kindness. Some are afraid - most of the dogs will bark at new volunteers until they get used to you. The more time you spend with them the quicker this will be...

Basic, shared, on-site accommodation and food provided (add requested items onto a list and they will be bought for you...we usually have an evening meal together but the rest of the time you will need to fix your own food)
There are dogs living in the little house too. They maybe young, sick or have other issues.....they are not always fully house trained.

The little house is basically one room with bunk beds, office area, kitchenette and bathroom. It is a completely shared space.
It can be noisy (new dogs, full moon, sirens....will make the dogs more barkey) some volunteers wear ear plugs at night.

Have questions? Please ask....

Ideally we are looking for people to stay for 1 month. Sorry we can not take volunteers that are traveling with their own dogs.
