We have a 50 acre farm, mostly organic. We have horses, cows, kunekune pigs, rabbits, chickens and ducks. In addition to breeding horses, We run a hay business and a sawmill. Our equipment is mostly vintage, no electronics. We are currently building outbuildings, using as much of our milled wood as possible, putting up fences and reconditioning our fields.
This summer, we have puppies!! We raise English Short Legged Jack Russell Terriers. We spend a lot of time with our puppies and do our best to prepare them for their forever homes. We also have piglets and ducklings this summer.
We are offering a work exchange for 1 week to 4 months, 5 hours per day, one day off a week. We are flexible with times and days. The kind of work depends on your interests, for example, working with the horses, working in the garden/ orchard, helping with the sawmill, driving a tractor, helping with equipment maintenance and repair.
Your experience level isn`t as important as a positive attitude and a willingness to help and learn, we can teach you the details. Riding horses to equipment repair and everything in between, we love to share our knowledge and experiences.
Our property is a work in process, which is why we need helpxers! About 5 acres of the 50 is basically a junkyard. We are working towards cleaning it all up, but there`s so many other things to do, that progress is slow. I mention this because a few of our helpxers have been pretty shocked by the junkyard. Thankfully most of them have not minded and been such a joy to have around. Most of the property is beautiful and we have direct access to hiking trails and lots of places to ride the horses.
We have hosted some incredible helpers thus far!! Jen spent a lot of time with our horses and did a fantastic job of cleaning and reorganizing our tack trailer. Lukas helped a lot with the animals, the pigs especially Butterscotch, loved him. He also was a great help to Mike, running our hay equipment and me painting. Romane and Raphael rode our horses, helped with our seemingly never ending hay season, and more painting they are a great team and work extremely well together.
We feel we have made lifelong friends with all our helpers and hope that they visit us again!!
We live in a rural area, with lots of great hiking and riding trails. We are about 45 minutes to an hour from Medford and Grants Pass.
