We are a diverse homestead and community organizing center nestled in the Clear Creek Valley near Berea, Ky. We are surrounded by over four hundred acres of deciduous forests, hollers, spring-fed streams, and open bottom-land, where the Appalachian Foothills rise above the bluegrass. We are an intergenerational community, ranging in age from 1 year to 70, striving to learn how to live in place with long term integrity.

We garden using a variety of organic methods including permaculture. We preserve and ferment food and eat from the bounty of the land throughout the year. There are opportunities to connect with the edible and medicinal plants of the land through foraging and farming. Our community has orchards, mushroom logs and an established food forest. We take advantage of the unique growing conditions of these incredibly biodiverse Appalachian Foothills.

We host public events in our hundred-year-old schoolhouse. The Schoolhouse is home to concerts, theatrical performances, art shows, potlucks, workshops and spoken word. Our resident artist hosts a weekly session for art and weaving. We host Sunday Coffee often including yoga, music jams, tasty food, plenty of coffee, homegrown tea and good conversation.

The land and infrastructure are constantly evolving. As a result, a variety of help is needed. We are excited to welcome seasonal help interested in gardening, land maintenance, and infrastructure development. We are open to a variety of commitments from a week to extended stays. We ask for a minimum of 25 hours per week. We share lunch and dinner, taking turns with preparation and cleanup. We have camping sites available. Please bring your own tent and bedding. We have a composting toilet, indoor and outdoor showering facilities.

Our small community and the Clear Creek Schoolhouse is part of a larger community in the Clear Creek Valley. The Greater Clear Creek Community includes natural builders and permaculturists. Check out Salamander Springs Farm at, The Year of Mud at and social change artists at (

Berea is known as the arts and crafts capital of Kentucky and is home to Berea College, the first gender and race inclusive college in the South. Other hiking destinations include;
Anglin Falls, Berea Pinnacles, Red River Gorge, Cumberland Falls and the Daniel Boone National Forest

Our farm is an hour from Lexington and two hours from Louisville, Knoxville and Cincinnati.
