Current opening from March through June 2020. Couples welcome. Come join us. Aloha

Tropical Paradise - Come be apart of our dream to live a sustainable, abundant and truly joyous life! We are seeking 1-6 adult individuals (prefer couples) who are honest, hard-working, healthy, happy, well-adjusted and physically strong to assist in the daily maintenance and improvement of our family farm. For 15 work trade hours per week per person over 3 days (8am - 1pm) in exchange for accommodation. Food is not provided, except for occasional home cooked meals and produce from the fruit trees and farm community garden .

We are a small off-grid Farm located one block from the ocean on the Big Island (Opihikao area), which is one of the most tropical and abundant areas on the island. While fairly remote and buried in the jungle, everything you need is easily accessible, with swim spots, farmers markets and local stores within walking or short hitch hiking distance. We go into town often (Pahoa and Hilo) and would be glad to drop you off. There are also buses from Pahoa to Hilo and beyond. Close by there is Kehena Black Sand Beach (clothing optional) - 3 miles; Uncle Roberts Wednesday Night Farmers Market (entertainment and food) - 5 miles; Sanctuary (Yoga, dancing, horticulture classes) - 6 miles; and lava trails that flowed into the ocean plus new black sand beach - 5 miles. Pahoa town (grocery store and restaurants) - 9 miles; Hilo (swimming, farmers markets and beautiful bay) - 35 miles away and the rest of the Big Island for exploring (zip lines, flume rides, 4 wheel adventure, water falls and beaches).

Your personal accommodations are a glamping style private tent with real queen size bed. You would share a large 20 x 20 indoor kitchen with other helpers including stove and refrigerator, dining and living area with TV (DVDs only). There is a large hot water lava rock shower, a composting type toilet and washing machine for your use. You will be sharing the living area with 3-6 other helpers. Everyone is required to clean shared living areas one hour per week in addition to the work trade hours. You should bring: Work shoes, working/garden gloves, a flash light (or two), rain poncho or jacket, sun glasses, work hat, bug spray and sunscreen.

We have exotic fruit trees, as well as pineapple and vegetable gardens that all need assistance with their constant care; planting and re-planting, weeding, fertilizing, weed whacking, as well as facility maintenance (e.g., wash gutters, solar panels, cleaning and construction projects.

Tell us your skills: What do you want out of the experience and what can you especially contribute? Please send me: 1. Proposed arrival and departure dates (prefer 4 plus weeks); 2. Related Experience; 3. Required: Confirmation that you are covered by health insurance.

If you are from outside the U.S., please be sure to get a U.S. Tourist Visa (B-2) (90 Day visitor visa), or equivalent. Immigration to U.S. is very tight and some folks have been returned to their home country.

Mahalo and look forward to hearing from you.
Tanya
