We used to live on a sheep and cropping farm near the Grampians (in western Victoria about 3.5 hours from Melbourne ) 8km east of Cavendish, a small village. We have hosted helpers there for over a decade and enjoyed meeting new travelers. Our son now manages the farm and we have moved nearer the coast and have a large house 10 minutes from the beach on the Bellarine peninsular 15 minutes from Geelong, about an hour and a half from Melbourne. I am really looking for help around the home, garden/vege garden, general cleaning, domestic/handyman, and painting would be an asset, (4 hours work)in return for board and meals. We are an older couple but not too boring, we have 3 children in their 30's who keep us in the 21st century!!!. You would have your own room and bathroom and you would be part of the family. We would prefer a single person or a couple..... We can collect you from Geelong. I would anticipate about a weeks stay would be a good option. You can explore the area while you are here. We have bikes you can borrow.
If you are interested you may be able to visit the farm and combine a visit with John.
The farm is a good half way stop from Melbourne to Adelaide or a stopover after traveling from the great ocean road to explore the Grampians National Park.
The first photo is of our house the second of the farm, then your bedroom at our house, which can be 2 beds or one king size double bed. And Rob and I standing in front of one of the holiday cottages at the farm. Then the farm house near the Grampians.Allover the place sorry!!
