This is an organic farm in a Bedouin settlement in Nuweiba, South Sinai, Egypt.
It is a piece of desert turned into fertile land. We are looking for long-term skilled volunteers to help in planting, compost making, some wood work, work on the houses for the animals and someone who enjoys the desert :-)
We are trying to give an example to the Bedouins, so that they will transform their land too.
18,000m in agriculture use growing: eggplant, fennel, asparagus, oranges, limes, zucchini, dates, corn, tomatoes, figs, mulberries, artichokes, olives, okra, and herbs such as mint, basil, lemon balm and rosemary. We are certified Demeter farm , member of Center of Organic Agriculture in Egypt
We also have an exchange with the Bedouin organic farmers up in the mountains, especially the medical herbs plant project
PLEASE NOTE: The minimum stay for volunteers is three months. The volunteering opportunities are for skilled practitioners (bio-dynamics, organic husbandry, carpentry) who want to experience an organic enterprise in desert conditions. Ideally also interested in development work.
