This is an opportunity for a few volunteers to learn how to remodel a home while helping raise money for charity and living in paradise all at the same time. The project has a rough start date of October 18th, will cover all ranges of home remodel and volunteers can expect to learn skills that would take most people years of schooling and training. We will be redoing the roof, electrical, plumbing, floors, kitchen, bathrooms etc.

We are also looking for someone who would like to record and document the above mentioned project as well as help with our social media presence, although this would not be expected to fill your time as the main task at hand is fixing the house.

The house is located in a small town 30 minutes North of Hilo called Laupahoehoe. It is a small town with a small store/cafe 0.3 miles from the house. It is by no means beachfront but the ocean is visible from both the front and backyard and is very close. Also, Ha'akoa stream is down a steep drop off right in front of the house and we're just 20 minutes from the 442 foot Akaka Falls.

Accommodations are at your option. The house has 4 bedrooms, any of which we could paint and clean up the floor for you to stay in or you can camp in the small backyard. Keep in mind if you wish to stay in the house that it was just purchased out of foreclosure and is in bad shape, has no furniture, no working kitchen and a bathroom in need of major work so I will be hammering and causing a ruckus most of time, 6 days a week and maybe 7. We will do what we can asap to make your situation comfortable and everyday we'll be working to make the house more livable. The first and last pics in our listing are of the house we’ll be working on. The other pics are before and afters of previous projects.

There will be two people (myself - Bryan and my wife, Hong) and our sweet 45lb black lab(Jilly) living in a travel trailer in the backyard. You will have access to the restroom and kitchen so long as the ones in the house are in disrepair.

We will cover your food but to what extent is still undetermined. We will cover your grocery costs but we may or may not cook meals together depending on schedules and diets.

We are a group of building contractors and farmers focused on putting an end to unnecessary suffering. We believe in teaching people to fish, rather than providing it. Our goal is to acquire vacant land that is suitable for both farming and home building where we will create a community through teaching people how to grow their own food and build their own homes. We know this to be a truly sustainable path to empowering and enabling people to secure the healthy and happy futures they deserve.

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit, funded by profits from building/remodel projects.
