We have 2 mango orchards consisting of 900 mango trees. Our home is set inside 1 of the orchards , we are close to town and the room has orchard and mountain views.

We are 15 min from the beach named Puerto Arista and close to the famous Boca de Cielo and one of the worlds largest , un developed estuaries with all kinds of wild life and mangroves .

We are situated in southern chiapas. It is very safe . We have none of the problems you may hear about and we love it and everyone who has volunteered with us , loves it too. almost too beautiful and peaceful for words.

Work is year round. There is all kinds of ranch work and maintenance and the like . We have the occasional green building projects as well .

There is nightlife in town and a surprisingly large and open LGBTQ (i hope i got all the letters in , dont want to offend anyone ) community . Its a fairly rural , very typical all mexican agricultural town. Mainly mangos , cattle and fishing . But , as I have said , it IS very beautiful and un spoiled , laid back and peaceful and the locals are very accepting of visitors.

We offer a really nice room with a/c , en suite bath and wifi , use of the house , kitchen etc in exchange for 5-6 hours a day of work , mon thru sat , sundays off .

You can buy your own food and cook it yourself or if we provide food , its 120 pesos a day per person , alcoholic beverages not included. The 120 covers the cost of the food, coffee ,local organic honey , snacks , teas etc.

Our meals are fresh and mostly locally sourced .
The diet includes locally sourced meat , hormone and chem free , veggies , rice , beans , cheese , fruit , tortilla , pan yoghurt etc . Basically anything you would want to eat , within reason.

You will have access to the kitchen as our guests need to make their own breakfast and usually , lunch.

Carolina , who is an amazing gourmet mexican cook will cook you a tasty and filling dinner every nite and its a different creation almost every nite and its always quite good !

You will also have access to our medicinal plants like moringa and neem , noni for making teas and the like , And you can harvest bananas , mangos , chamote , yucca etc , included for FREE!!!

We prefer omnivores unless you take care of your own food . But we have hosted everyone from vegans on up.

We have had to start charging for food because the peso is at 20 and food costs have gone up 80% in 1 year and before we starting asking for help with the food , some guests were literally eating 300-400 pesos a day .

Hope you understand .

But like i said , you can buy your own food and cook it in our kitchen .

Apart from the ranch work , we ask our helpers to participate in the daily chores . Washing dishes , sweeping and the like. As well as keeping the guest room clean. We say this to stress , we arent a hotel . It is our home and our work space and our passion and we really love having help from helpers . Its been a great experience for us.

Sometimes you will need to be self starting in working as Justin is getting older and has some health issues that limit how much physical work he can do . But it varies day to day.

Thank you for your understanding and for thinking of helping us! Its really is a big deal to us that there are people willing to support small scale family farms , so even if you dont come here , thank you for helper X ing !!!!!

Last bit of advice , try and learn some spanish. We speak english and spanish , but carolina and illyana only speak spanish as well as the whole town.

So , we hope you come and visit and thank you again.

PS - all races , genders and beliefs , preferences etc etc are welcome and respected.

saludos
