*****We are now accepting helpers for the 2019 season*****

Our farm started in May 2017. We grow vegetables, herbs and edible flowers for chefs and restaurants in Cambridge and London. Our produce is grown and harvested with attention to detail so that we can provide our customers with the freshest, highest quality produce possible. We grow some British staples, and experiment with some more exotic varieties, so you’ll have a chance to learn about a wide range of vegetables.

Our heavy horses Bill and Ben provide the power for all of our field work. The equipment used on the farm was imported from our Amish friends in Sugar Creek, Ohio. Although this might make us look like a historical farm these are in fact amazing pieces of engineering, and mean we can cultivate more land, more quickly, producing a wider range of delicious crops than would be possible by hand or tractor.

We're one of the few farms in the UK to use horses to work the land. We chose this approach because we believe it's good for the environment, as well as enjoying their company. We use much less fossil fuel this way, and their feet are gentler on the land than a heavy tractor, giving our veggies better beds to grow in. They are also an excellent source of organic fertilizer!

We have developed a weekly routine that works for our farm and our business. Volunteers live and eat with us, and join in with the daily responsibilities of caring for the animals(Horses, chickens and Midnight, the cat) watering baby plants, seeding, planting and all the other tasks that go with running a small but busy farm.
We pick and deliver to chefs 2 days a week. We start a bit earlier on these mornings to make sure our customers have their product by lunchtime. When we are not harvesting for our chefs we spend the days cultivating and tending our crops. You will gain a good understanding of farm life during your visit and you will participate in all sorts of activities relating to producing high quality produce.

The farm is 7 miles away from Cambridge, easily accessible by bus which can pick you up from a minutes walk from the farm. We are biking and walking distance from the Linton, Abington and Hildersham which have a selection of shops, coffee shops, and pubs. We have bikes on the farm you are welcome to use.London is only a forty minute train ride from Cambridge. The area is good for walking and running, with lots of trails to explore in the evening, and your weekends off.

Food is a very important aspect of our farm, we like to eat well! We have a communal meal at lunchtime and we each take turns cooking and cleaning up. Volunteers are independent for breakfast and dinner though all food is provided. We do a weekly shop supplemented with vegetables and eggs from the farm. Volunteer accommodation is simple bedrooms in a cottage. The accommodation is comfortable we all take care to keep our living space, kitchen and bathroom clean and tidy for each other.

We are looking for people who are motivated to learn about organic farming through being part of a hard working, dynamic team. Individuals should be independent, motivated and conscientious. Ideally, volunteers would be 20+, have some experience with shared living, or be willing to learn and be able to cook. Even just a few dishes! We prefer volunteers that are able to stay for longer periods, three or more weeks, and while we will of course consider everyone, precedent will be given to longer stays. It helps with learning the rhythm of the farm, and allows you see and do a lot more, and understand better what is going on.

We look forward to hearing from you.
