25 acre macadamia nut farm & fruit orchard located just north of Hilo on the beautiful Hamakua Coast. We are transitioning into fully organic and looking for work traders who can help us tend to the land. We are asking for 15 hours a week helping with weeding, clearing land, pruning trees, starting plant nursery, animal care, and working on carpentry/ construction projects. Ideal candidates have agriculture/ carpentry experience and skills.
Living space and basic amenities provided. We offer various living accommodations from a fully furnished farmhouse with kitchen, large bathroom, & washer/dryer, to campsites with access to a furnished off-grid cabin as shared common area with 1-2 other work traders. Cabin has catchment water, solar electricity, kitchen, full bathroom and views of Hilo town and the ocean.
Food may be foraged on the property, otherwise teammates will need to provide their own groceries. We have avocado, bananas, macadamia nuts, papayas, abiu, lemons, oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, lilikoi, rambutan, lychee, warabi, ulu and more.
The property is not more than 15 minutes from the center of Hilo however, is still rather remote. There is a bus that one can walk to from the farm, however, as it is almost a 20-minute walk to the bus, having own transportation is ideal. The road to the property is a typical farm road and is unsuitable for cars that donít have awd/ 4wd.
