We would like to welcome a handyman, carpenter, landscaper or gardener to our home (whichever one comes first!). We live in the beautiful leafy surrounds of Eltham, which is is a 45 minute drive from the CBD, or a 50 minute train journey to the CBD from the local Eltham train station.

Eltham is known as one of the prettiest suburbs of Melbourne, very lush with gum trees everywhere, and walking tacks, the river, and nature parks at your doorstep. Mudbrick homes can be spotted across the suburb and even the large local Eltham library is built of mudbrick. Though it’s a suburb, it really feels like you are living in the country with city conveniences.

In exchange for 4 hours help a day 5 days a week (or 20 hours a week at negotiable times) you will receive accommodation and meals, staying in your own spacious room downstairs with queen bed, sofa, woodheater and an outdoor spa for use outside your sliding doors in your own little courtyard (that needs some work to make it private and pretty). You can also use our outdoor swimming pool at any time on the warmer days, and we have a verandah with a nice view of the tree tops. For an extra hour of work a day, you also have the option of using our spare 4WD Nissan Patrol to do some travelling around Melbourne if that’s something you want to do.

To give an idea of the kind of work that we are hoping to get some helping hands on, here are some projects that we want to commence:

— The creation of an ensuite in the room you will be staying in so it can be made into a separate living space.
— Building or installing of a kitchenette in the room you will be staying in.
— some bamboo fencing, gardening and sprucing up of the spa courtyard area outside your room.
— building of a wooden spa cover (that one’s a hard ask!)
— rejuvenating of a pond and sitting area that needs a lot of TLC
— putting up wallpaper on one wall in the room you will be staying in
— painting and putting up architraves
— helping to move current fencing to create your room and courtyard into separate living space with its own separate street entrance (cutting it off from the rest of the house) and building of steps off the street for this purpose.
— other gardening, landscaping, handyman work.

We look forward to hearing from you!
