Perrine, 55 years old, is a self-employed accountant and administrator.
Denis, 54 years old, gave up his career as collective kitchen fitter and repairer to renovate this former summer camp and turn it into a holiday resort which will also provide reception halls for rent.
We have been together for over twenty years and are rather good at DIY (we have already renovated a three floor house near Paris, where we used to live), but we need help to renovate this place, where we have been living for almost a year now, because it’s too big for just the two of us.
Located on the banks of the Aveyron river in Tarn and Garonne, about three kilometers from the village of Saint Antonin Noble Val (cittaslow labelled), our property is made of three separate buildings: an old mill, a very old building full of charm (approximately 600m2) and a more recent building (approximately 500m2). The land is about 18 acres wide and consists of garden, woodland and meadow. The area offers a wide variety of tourist attractions and sports activities such as canoeing, caving, climbing, hiking and so on.
Confirmed and less-confirmed handymen and women are welcome. There is gardening as well as building work to do. The walls are sound as the buildings were lived in until 2005 but they need processing and refreshment.
In the spring of 2019, Denis launched the boiler construction site after completing the restoration of the floor of the 2 lounges. The under layer is made but it is necessary to paint and put skirting boards. The next project to start is the construction of a kitchen and a toilet area.
We need several people for different tasks:
Assist Denis in the installation of the heating system (reduction of partitions, evacuation of gravas for example)
Make plaster and paint
Make an exterior passage in cobblestones
Clean and tidy the big house where customers are staying for a week or a weekend
Window and shutter cleaning (never done for more than 10 years)
Cooking for helpers team
Mow the lawn and maintain the garden
Take care of the kitchen garden
Do sewing (various renovations of tea towels or sheets that are perforated for example, make cushion covers, ...)
Paint old furniture to make them look more cheerful
Restore old furniture that is a little damaged
Unfortunately, we do not cater for vegetarians. However, you are welcome to use the produce from the garden to cook your own food. I also do vegetable shopping twice a week to offer fresh vegetables to our helpers.
Working hours are flexible but we ask for five hours each day from Monday to Friday with weekends off.
Moulin Saleth is located in a beautiful valley beside the river Aveyron. There are bicycles at your disposal should you wish to explore the area. We love having friends and family around, we are very sociable and would welcome this opportunity to freshen up our English.
