Centuries old Eclectic Organic farm 1,100 acres. We raise British White cattle, Jersey milk cows, small grains, goats, horses, turkeys, chickens, muscovy ducks and more. We have a large garden 1/3 of an acre and are Chapter Leaders for Weston A. Price Foundation.

We do Lacto fermentation, wildcrafting, make cheese, butter, kefir, kombucha, ginger beer. Practice holistic management with our farm, animals and ourselves. We teach how Native Americas used plants as medicine and we teach Ethnobotany and make salves, balms and medicinal products from plants we gather on the farm

Events change quickly on the farm so you may not get to see or do everything. Let us know what your passion and expectations are

Some of the chores you can expect:
Trimming trees
Clearing out weeds
Fence repair
Caring for chickens, goats, horses, dogs
Housekeeping
cutting fire wood
pulling nails from old boards (very tedious)
mucking out chicken houses and cat sheds
Clearing and maintaining the garden
Cleaning canning room
General clean up around the farm
Lots of opportunity to get dirty.
Lots of opportunity to learn

You will be staying in the old farm house, it is very rustic and in the opinion of some helpers ramshackle with only electric.
You will use a solar shower and a outhouse It is a lot like camping out.
Bring a lap top as we do not have a computer for public use (too many viruses)

We live off the land, cook on a wood cookstove and in the summer use a sun oven.We dehydrate, can and preserve various foods.
Make soap and Apothecary items.

We practice Parelli Natural Horsemanship, and very serious about handling our horses with love, language and leadership. You will be challenged mentally, emotionally and physically. We need people who are motivated and self-starters.

Lots of things to do on this farm. You really need to be a self starter and be able to work alone at various tasks. See some of the comments we have from previous helpers.
You may even get to meet a real Lakota medicine woman and experience a sweat lodge and attend a Pow Wow we work closely with our Native American brothers

Dishonesty, laziness, bad attitudes and foul language not tolerated. Our in-house library has hundreds of books DVD`s Cd`s and journals for you to study, read and enjoy.

We also have 5 dogs 3 of which are Border Collies. 1 lab and a Great Pyrenees

we are very hands on with the entire farm.

Read the reviews we have from other helpers they are honest about the experience they have had on our farm.

We request that you NOT bring anything perfumed
such as soap, shampoo, rinse. You will learn how to get along without all of that. We use castile soaps, baking soda, apple cider vinegar.

You can Go fishing at a nearby park. Hunting in the Fall and ice fishing in the winter. We take our volunteers to some of the local Rodeos usually in July and August and the state fair in September. We took our helpers to see Willie Nelson in 2014!

All wildlife is protected on our farm. We love all the creatures that pass thru our land. We also hunt mushrooms and do wildcrafting of various plants.

Bring barn boots and work gloves.

(Please, NO SMOKING, excessive drinking,(we do enjoy a cold beer in the summer and maybe some homeade wine) Absolutly NO drugs NO EXCEPTIONS)

Good, Better, Best. Never let it rest, Get Your Good Better and your Better Best.
