Hi helpers and travel lovers. We need help now June and itís a great opportunity to stay with a warm, musical family in a beautiful town with country side on the doorstep. Any skills in gardening, house work and cleaning, sorting out and organising spaces, carpentry, cutting/chopping wood for the fire, building and maintenance, house painting (outside and inside), artistic, graphic design marketing/publicity/flyer design are all skills we are looking for as well as good with children and dogs. If your not afraid of work and are responsible then get in touch now. Calm and easy going with a can do attitude works better for us and good spoken English and communication skills are essentail. Please read ALL our profile and email us in English.

We are experienced hosts via various sources and donít ask anyone to do a job we havenít done or tried before. As we are so busy we need people who are over 21 years of age and someone who is willing to learn and are able to give 5 hours a day willingly. (it`s not hard work)

About us! my name is Tanya and I live in the lovely town of Frome in the county of Somerset with my husband Alan, my daughter Maya who is 13 my son Emrys who is 7 and our lovely little dog called Lottie. Emrys loves music (Beatles especially) dressing up and is very funny. Maya is quieter, shy and a huge music fan and loves the Beatles, Bob Dylan, playing Paino and Ukelele as well. I am warm, social and outgoing and have lots of different aspects of my life to juggle. Alan is quieter and less social and likes his own company and has a degree in fine art and has been building and revamping our house. (He does work for other people as well)

Frome is a fantastic place and has a unique alternative community of creative people (Artists, Musicians, Writers, poets and crafts people) It has lots going on in the local pubs, it has a great music venues, has lots of art galleries, markets and independent shops. The town has a 10 day festival every July (google Frome Festival) and many interest groups that meet. (It was voted the second coolest place in the UK to live recently!) Frome has a town council made up of independent people, so no party politics so very forward thinking and dynamic. Probably good to mention we are left wing (socialist) and politically engaged and passionate so if you are a Donald Trump fan we are not the host for you.

I run courses and arts based projects using African Drumming and percussion. (Also in the past I have run drama, shadow puppets, songwriting and choir courses). With so many government cuts this is getting harder so want to turn my organisation from a `not for profit` into a business so any help with that would be great. I run a monthly Family Drum Circle, and do various workshops and sessions teaching drumming and having fun with drum circles, percussion and music in general . I play the Djembe, guitar and also Play the trumpet in the Frome Street Bandits, which is community band that turn up and play on the streets of Frome with an aim to make people dance, laugh and have fun! Open to jamming when there is time! (Did I say we are busy! ??) But please realise we are not sitting around playing music every night. I play in bands that practice and run classes away from the home and like to jam but donít get much spare time.

Frome is in the ĎWest Countryí and is 2.5 hours from London by train, its 2 hours from Devon, and about 20 miles away you will find the historic city of Bath, the big city of Bristol, and Glastonbury with its amazing Tor. I have a few friends locally who also have volunteers so we could get together and you could meet others if that is what you wanted.

We are a vegetarian family and don`t like meat in the house. I will provide all your meals and cook a hot meal in the evening that we will eat together (or you could cook if you wanted for us!) You would help yourself to breakfast and lunch unless I am cooking anyway. We enjoy good food and like to eat as healthy as possible but time is always an issue as we are busy and don`t have hours to prepare meals. I am a good cook (speedy) and we love sitting down eating together with a candle, conversation and sometimes after food crank up the 1960ís juke box and have a boogie before the children start the bed time routine.

We parent in a way so that our children are valued, respected, able to express themselves and to be confident. We love a laugh and Emrys is a great entertainer dressing up and dancing for us. We would be really happy to share our home, friends and the wider community (I am well networked and know lots of helpful contacts) with you in exchange for 5 hours work for 5 days a week. I am flexible on work arrangements and happy for you to work 5 hours a day or, do longer days and take more days off where that works for us all. Usually Monday to Friday would be work days, but again flexible to suit what works for you too and fits with what work needs doing.

Being able to speak good English is essential so that you can understand my daughter and son and they can understand you. Please only apply if your English is good enough to be easily understood.

Your accommodation is a large 4 berth caravan which is getting a bit old now but dry and cosy and it`s away from the house behind the garage with electricity, water and iPod docking station. There is a toilet in the caravan for evening use and the house has a bath, shower and toilet for regular use. No wifi in caravan and we don`t have it on all the time in house due to health reasons associated with Wi-Fi. We turn it off when finished with it so if your big into games and internet (downloading films etc) and want it on 24/7 we are not the host for you.

You have you own space in the caravan and the evening we are usually tired and like the sitting room to ourselves.

One helper only and someone who is self sufficient and can get out and about at the weekends works for us. someone who is organised, has initiative, is chilled out, gets stuck in and is understanding and kind with children.

Frome is a vibrant town with loads to do, markets, live music, groups, art galleries, thriving independent shops in walking distance. It is easy to make friends with other helpers as lots of people are part of this type of culture! Do be warned Frome can suck you in and make it hard to leave!!

3 weeks minimum stay is ideal and if it works for you and us then we can extend it to longer.

No smoking please in the house or caravan but happy for you to smoke outside as long as you dont leave the ends all over the garden - thanks and happy travels.
