This is a nascent family farm that wants to be a soil-building, carbon-sequestering, food-raising, community-nurturing, nature-connecting, regenerative permaculture homestead and learning centre when it grows up.

The household is focused on learning about all the things. There is an extensive library, musical instruments abound and a love of food, locally and sustainably grown, is central. We work hard but also love being creative, having Pizza and Movie Night and exploring the woods to ferret out some of Mother Nature`s secrets. We speak a little French and are interested in learning about Your launguage and culture.

Usually we will work together on projects, but I sometimes have non-farm-related work that takes my time and attention, so the ability to work independently is important. Generally I expect 4-6 hours of work a day, depending on what needs doing at the time.

We use permaculture principles and try always to partner with and learn from Nature in creating this space and finding our place in the Grand Scheme of Things.

These are some of the projects currently underway or that we hope to begin this year:

permaculture mapping
mushroom experiments
chicken tractor building
permanent chicken coop build
swale/hugelkultur design and construction
thicket/windbreak design and plant
shower mosiac design and execution
multipurpose greenhouse/workshop/processing build
trail/forestry work/firewood processing

And then there's the ongoing planting/tending/raising/harvesting of the plants and animals that make the whole thing possible.

Located just off the Cabot Trail, close to the Gaelic College, Baddeck, and the Highlands; St. Ann`s is home to the Artisan`s Loop, where music and all the arts are inspired by the magnificence that surrounds us. We look forward to sharing this adventure with You!
