This is a 100 hectar ranch located in the South of the Baja peninsula, Mexico. We have a tourist related business offering guided trail rides on horseback, overnight accommodations, group lunches, wine tasting and various other related activities. We prepare food from our organic gardens, orchards as well as make wine from our vineyard and tropical fruit. Just now starting into summer months and it should be known Baja Sur can be hot. As we are off the gird there is not air-conditioning in the accommodations. Fans are the best we can do. Because we are not near the beach the humidity is not bad and the pool offers a chance to cool down in the afternoon. Although summer is low season for tourism the animals, vineyard and grounds require continual care. As this is a sustainable organic farm that is off the grid and in all respects a working ranch, there are a variety of jobs helpers would be expected to assist with. As there are various systems related to the working of the ranch, we are hoping for helpers that will commit for stay of one month or longer which allows time to familiarize. We offer food, lodging and instruction in the workings of aspects of our operation in exchange for a 7 hour per day 5 day work week. The work is mostly physical and can be hard at times, it is a ranch after all. Dog rescue is a on going effort here. Helpers are, at times, asked to foster a dog while we secure a permanent home for it. We try to subsist for the most part on what we produce here on Rancho LaVenta. We are located in the mountains 30 minutes from beautiful beaches and towns which can be accessed by bus on time off. Helper accomendations, depending on the time of year, would be either a camper, wall tent or cabana. All have good beds , bathroom and cooking facilities. This area of Mexico is considered very safe. Please include a photo in your profile as well as any work or diet restrictions you may have. We want this to be a pleasant experience for both helper and host. Also, it is always best to write us as far in advance as practical. We have many helpers trying to come here and only require two at a time although at times three. Also there is no cell service and internet is limited.
