In northern Spain, on the Camino de Santiago, between beautiful mountain slopes, we are running an albergue for pilgrims.
It is located right ón the Camino, so all pilgrims will pass here on their way to Santiago de Compostela.

If you want to be a part of a wonderful Camino-experience: please read on...

Would you like to join us in supporting these pilgrims, while improving the albergue?
You'll help 4-5 hours, 5 days a week, in exchange for a place to stay, delicious (vegetarian) food and inspiring times with lots of new people.

By the way: we EXCLUSIVELY communicate through Help-X, with premier helpers.
So although we love your enthusiasm about our project, please do not send us messages directly.

In October we will also be painting walls and doors, and do some repair work, while pilgrims come and stay with us... We'd love to have some help.

UPDATE 2: we are considering staying open all winter, so if like a bit of solitude, and be interested in running the albergue on your own (with the amazing cook), please send a message with motivation and experience. We then will ask you to stay here from mid-October until mid-December or mid-January until mid-April.

BUT FOR NOW..until the end of this season:
We'd love to have people who want to help us taking turns with:
- the morning shift: making our delicious breakfast (all homemade: pancakes with fruit, yoghurt with granola, etc.) and preparing the albergue for the new arrivals
- the afternoon shift: incheck / registering new pilgrim-arrivals
- the evening shift: serving dinner and preparing breakfast

And if you can draw tulips on the walls of the albergue: beautiful!

If you happen to be a handy wo(man) to do short technical projects: sweet! We're always improving the albergue (painting, woodwork, drilling, electricity, etc.).

As for you personally, we'd like you to have a big, beautiful and open heart, flexibility and a learning mentality, 24 years old or older and preferably having a sense of what the Camino de Santiago is.

The vision that we are working towards is a HAPPY OASIS, where pilgrims and volunteers come together to:
- be CONNECTED with new friends,
- be RECHARGED from a long day of walking, with healthy and home-made food and drinks, and
- be INSPIRED to get the most of their journey: the Camino de Santiago is a road of reflection. It can have a profound impact on a person’s life. In the albergue we 'd like to support that process (in a very light-hearted way) and we are setting up various forms to do so: games, riddles, thought-provoking questions, sessions of meditation/ yoga/ singing bowls, massage, books and music. Obviously, volunteers are invited (no obligation).

Once you step into the albergue, we will surely ask you for the experience you 'd like to gét, while staying with us. And we'll do our best to provide.
If all works out well, we'll be happy to have you for a period of 3-4 weeks (to begin with).

So, why not come along on the adventure and discover your own Camino…

The albergue is situated in the heart of the small pueblo of Salas (Asturias), that lies between delightful sloping gardens with trees, shrubs, plants and lots of other green world. The albergue offers space for up to 30 pelgrims, divided into 9 rooms.
The house was built in 1850, and it has a great kitchen/ hang-out, three bathrooms (hot water, with a powerful(!) spray), a cosy patio and a wonderful sunny&shady 500m2-terrace, where couches, tables and chairs are sometimes placed for people to relax after a day of climbing hills.

In high season more than 100 pilgrims pass every day, after sometimes having walked for more than 2 weeks. Some of them will stop to relax and regain their energy. We'll support them with healthy home-made food, fresh drinks and a big smile. We will offer them a vegetarian communal diner in the evening (we have great reviews!!) and an energizing breakfast in the morning. Some of it is donation-based (no charge), some of it is for sale. Our main purpose is to keep the albergue open for pilgrims, and improve it.

The Camino attracts more than 200.000 people annually, from all over the world. And you can meet them all!! In their backpacks they not only carry 8-10 kg of gear, but also 50-80 kg of stories, experiences. It is interesting. There is so much variety in each day, that you'll get to learn things you never knew, about Spain, hospitality, life and you.
