We are looking for friendly, energetic and easy-going volunteers to join our team to support in the running of our busy backpackers' hostel in Nottingham City Centre. We are a well-established hostel running for over 20 years offering rest and recuperation for travellers, students and families. We are a multi-national team and love the city of Nottingham and what it has to offer, we hope to offer the experience of a lifetime to happy applicants!

We offer to our guests' ensuite rooms, doubles, twins, triples, quads, quintuples and dormitories.

Hours of work per week: Approximately 20-24 hrs per week

Days off a week: At least 1-2 days off per week (depending on how your weekly hours are distributed).

In exchange: Free accommodation is offered in shared dorm style rooms (please note: this is usually a mixed dorm and we sometimes must move guest/volunteers around to make bookings fall into place). Furthermore, we offer a weekly allowance for you to spend how you see fit. (please note: other than that, you must buy/provide all your own meals and shared self-catering kitchen facilities are available). In addition, things like bedding, towel, wi-fi and laundry facilities are also provided by the hostel free of charge while you are volunteering with us.

By signing up to be a volunteer at the igloo you will support us in a variety of tasks that mainly involve: general cleaning, housekeeping, making beds and laundry. in addition, possibly some light maintenance/DIY work, painting, gardening, running errands and welcoming/helping guests. responsibilities can also include some reception duties which may include telephone and online bookings, tourism information service, night porter shifts, & looking after the emergency phone & alarms.

Our volunteer opportunities/positions are available to nationalities over the age of 18 and suitable for people who are reliable and able to communicate and write in English at a high intermediate level. You need to either have an EU / UK passport or the correct visa to work in the UK. It is important that you are flexible, easy-going, open-minded, and willing to work hard to perform the tasks involved, as well as being a sociable person to enjoy the living arrangements within a hostel environment.

We are looking for easy-going personalities that are sociable and prepared to roll up their sleeves and not scared of a bit of hard work! (minimum of 4 weeks commitment)
