We are ready to welcome new helpx folks this coming spring (May-October 2019) to participate at the historic école des Vatelottes. Our goal is to create a place for artists (sculptors, painters, ceramics) and artisans (local farmers who sell products such as saffron, spirulina, truffles and othe local products) to meet with the public for cultural exchange.

Walking distance to bakery, grocery store, pharmacy, etc. .
Nearby historic Gallo-Roman ruins, Joan of Arc birthplace, châteaux, etc.

We need help to do light gardening, paint, rebuild shutters, capentry and to tidy up. Skilled artisans (plumbers, carpenters, cooks) are appreciated. All are encouraged to apply. We have two apartments (for 2 persons each). Both have private bathrooms. Four-hour workday program with self-service kitchen. Six-hour work days offered with meals included, vegetarian meals available. Small animals may be accepted upon interview. Non-smoking environment

Located about 3 hours southeast of Paris, the rural hilltop village between Champagne and Lorraine. Bourmont is a "Petite Cite de Character," (small town with character), an official distinction for communities blessed with exceptional heritage. The old college is strategically placed next to the church at the top of the rocky overhang that offers exceptional panoramas of the valley. Our intent is to use the building to serve as a meeting point for artists and artisans by creating a cafe-style atmosphere in order to attract and connect visitors with the local population (and what the region has to offer). Renovations are from mid-May to the end of October.
