We have a certified organic mushroom farm and homestead that focuses on growing vegetables in gardens and 2 greenhouses, companion planting with mushrooms and vegetables, growing mushrooms indoors, managing an orchard, raising and breeding goats and general homesteading activities. We are focused on permaculture and biodynamic farming practices and are located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains.

We started the homestead and mushroom farm from scratch 10 years ago. We grow 7 different kinds of mushrooms throughout the year including shiitake, lion's mane, oysters, chestnuts...

Tasks on the farm can include garden and greenhouse management, making soil, planting seeds, weeding, processing vegetables and mushrooms, harvesting mushrooms, keeping the mushroom building clean, building projects and tieing our goats out every day (which helps with invasive plant control, lawn mowing and fertilization of the soil). On nice days we take our goats for walks, it is a lot of fun!

We offer a great opportunity to learn general homesteading and permaculture skills and the basics of mushroom cultivation, and the processing, preservation and cooking of mushrooms and vegetables. We have traveled and been volunteers ourselves so we know what it is like to live in someone's home and we treat our guests like family. If you have a special interest in a certain project we are doing here we can focus on that project so you can attain skills while working with us or likewise if there is a project you really enjoy doing we will try and accommodate you. We love working with others and sharing our knowledge. We feel like everyone has something unique to share with each other.

We offer a furnished guest room which includes a bunk bed (twin on the top and double on the bottom) separate from the house or camping if you would rather sleep outdoors. We provide all meals and we eat all organic. We can accommodate any diet. Cleanliness is important to us and we expect our guests to help with kitchen chores and cooking. We share the downstairs of our home which is where the bathroom, kitchen and living room are. We also have a composting toilet outside. There is WIFI available in the house and just outside of the house for internet access and you can use our house phone for calls within the US but if you need to call out of the country you will need to buy a calling card to use the house phone.

Our schedule changes daily so we will most likely do a little bit of everything each day. We start work at 9:00am-10:00am after having breakfast and we work Tuesday through Saturday. We ask for 25 hours of help per week in exchange for accommodations and 3 meals. We have lots of mushrooms to cook with (cultivated and wild) so if you like eating mushrooms this is a great place to come! This is not a vacation spot this is a working farm and we require people to come here with good work ethics and work diligently. We ask for everyone to help with cooking which usually rotates between adults and with kitchen clean up (this time is not included in the 5 hours of work time). We have a certified kitchen for food processing so we need to keep it very clean. Please bring your own toiletries, tea/coffee or any special snacks.
