We are a family home comprising of 6 of us (us and our 4 grown up tribe who stay at home sometimes) coming and going , 2 dogs, a rabbit and 3 sheep ecolawn mowers. There is usually lots going on and we like that. We are looking for an individual or couple that are both happy to muck in and be hands on. Short stays are fine, longer stays considered. There are lots of things to do inside the house and out, but we are quite relaxed and open to new ideas. It would be hugely beneficial to us if you have any skills such as carpentry. At this time of year, we need help with a variety of tasks, from strimming and brush cutting, to collecting and preparing firewood. The large garden is always in need of weeding and pruning. Cooking and cleaning are always a welcome addition.
We are at the beginning of growing food and making the most of the land but would like help to build on this. There is also plenty of space for camping, definitely welcome skills to help to build a compost loo, composting, creating a poly tunnel garden and generally get into much more food production. The sheep are to keep the grass down but if you have experience of shearing or trimming hooves that would be a bonus.
There are orchards and woods surrounding us, so plenty of beautiful walks which the dogs enjoy! Just a stroll away are the sweeeping views towards Glastonbury Tor and the village of Pilton. We live in a village which once a year hosts Glastonbury festival and there are incredible walks across the festival site (until the fence goes up for the duration). Our land is alive with the sound of birdsong and is a very peaceful environment.
Further afield we are just 5 miles (ish) from the town of Glastonbury and in the other direction Shepton Mallet and Frome. There are regular buses in the day and from Glastonbury you can get a connection to Bristol.
There is much to offer culturally, from the wonderful historical town of Glastonbury, (known in ancient times as the Isle of Avalon) to the market towns surrounding us.
We would be very happy if you could offer 4 hours a day in exchange for accommodation, breakfast and cooking facilities. Please get in touch if you'd like any further info, we look forward to hearing from you.
