We are a 55-acre farm focusing on regenerative vegetable farming. Although we are not certified organic yet, we are Certified Naturally Grown which means we practice organic farming and are certified by other local certified farmers.
From our farm you have access to Portland, Oregon via car. Portland offers lots of culture as well as many opportunities to participate in permaculture and herbalism workshops. We are also about an hour away from Mt Hood where you can hike and camp. There are many hiking and fishing areas even closer to our property than Mount Hood.
For the farmstay we would expect 10-15 hours of work a week. Tasks might include planting, weeding, harvesting, mulching and also small building projects. We are open to the length of stay, but we would prefer stays from 1 week - 1 month.
For accommodations we offer a bell tent in the forest with a view of Mt Hood. You will have access to an indoor bathroom in our house (that has a shower and bathtub), although one of the first projects may be to help us to build a composting toilet. We would love if you would join us for dinners some nights and tell us of your stories. The use of our kitchen is available for other meals. We also hope to build a small fire pit by the tent.
In addition to learning the basics of permaculture farming, we can offer lessons in foraging and herbal medicine making. Our farm also offers seasonal gatherings, as well as herbal and primitive skill workshops. If you are at our farm during one of these gatherings or workshops, you are welcome to join.
