Dear friends and volonteers,

We hope you are all doing well!

As travel restrictions are still in effect, airplanes still grounded, and more questions than solutions in fighting the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) are posed, we still have to postpone any volonteers stay.

So we are looking forward to the coming autumn season!
There is special need for collecting olives from middle of October till the end of november.
For the moment we have about 70 trees to be collected. We usually work for 3 to 4 consecutive days throughout the day to bring olives quickly to the mill. After 2 to 3 relaxing days we restart the collecting.
It would be perfect when helpers could stay minimum one collecting turn, even better to stay with us for a second turn.

Kalimera, we are an Austrian couple living in Lakonia, in a small village located in between Molaio and Neapoli. The seaside is just 1 ½ km walking distance (downhill) away.

Since four years we care about a long time neglected 10 ha huge olive grove.
We work daily a couple of hours to clear undergroth, lop and pruning the old trees.
We also repair the stone walled terrasses slopes; and build some stone walls;
We use hand-tools as well as motor tools so it is not demanding and heavy work to do, as cutting bushes – trimming and pruning the largest trees, and stack firewood for next winter.
We are not certified organic but try to be ecologically sounded – we have solar power and don’t use insecticides, and do use organic fertilizer.

Our field is just one kilometer outside the village of Daimonia where we have a small house, and an appartment in an adjected courtyard. Our house always need some maintainance as cleaning, sanding and coating the wooden windows and door, plastering and jointing the outer facades, sealing and painting.

In return for up to 25 hours work each week we provide accommodation, food and will try to show you around the area.
Places of interest are the watermill in Talanta, the castle of Monemvassia, the ancient sunken city of Asopos at Plytra, the Island Elafonissos and many more hidden treasures.

We offer accommodation in our appartment, equipped with bathroom, kitchenette, sleeping room with double size bed and a living room with one large bed.
Internet WLAN available.

You should like cats, but please don’t bring any pets with you.

In the evening we like cooking for dinner together with our hosts in order to have a cultural exchange. Food includes fish, meat, variety of vegetables from our garden and from the market, and a wide range of Austrian, Arabian and Greek dishes. We provide breakfast and on working days a light lunch, usually cold.

We speak German, English, French, and some Arabic.
