We are looking for one or two 21+ people for a variety of tasks including splitting and stacking firewood, painting of window frames, and general property maintenance work.

Bethells (also called Te Henga) is a slice of paradise. Itís only 10 minutes drive to a surf beach, a lake with stunning inland dunes (with the local black sparking sand) and the Hilary trail walk (although only parts of it are open at present due to Kauri Dieback). Itís 15 mins drive to the nearest shops and train station, although there is a small shop 10 minutes drive away.

We are offering free accommodation (your own self-contained unit on our property) in a beautiful area, in exchange for 2.5 hours work per day. (Or we can provide vegan meals in exchange for 4 hours work a day. Let us know which you prefer).

Length of stay (minimum 2 days) to be discussed to suit you and us.

Our property is a lifestyle bush block at the top of a ridge with lovely views down the valley and out to sea. Itís a very peaceful area. You can sit on your own little deck and watch native Tui, Kereru and Fantails darting about. At night you can often hear Morepork (owls) calling and sometimes even spot them flying or sitting in a tree. The sunsets some evenings are stunning!

Accommodation is in a fully equipped Bach separate from the main house, with its own kitchen, bathroom and washing machine. The open plan living area has two double sofa beds.

Parking is at the top of the drive, with the Bach being 60 metres down the driveway.

No TV (but there are lots of DVDs to watch) or landline phone, but internet and Vodafone mobile coverage are available via signal booster.

There is no public transport available to where we live, but if you don't have a vehicle we can come to pick you up from the local train station and drop you down the beach and lake, to check out the local area. Some people also hitch into the nearest shops, as most locals are very friendly.

There are also WOOFER's and HELPX workers at some of our neighbours.

On Friday evenings through the summer, local bands play by the beach - which brings the community together.

This is the perfect way to experience life on Aucklandís West Coast.

Photos show the drive down to the Bach and the Bach itself.
