We have bought a beautiful old Quinta in the lovely São Mamede Natural Park, near Marvão. We are looking for people to help as work on the house and the land, as we slowly restore the place to her former glory!

At the moment we’re looking for experienced dry stone wallers and/or stonemasons. We have lots of dry stone walls which need to be rebuilt, and a majestic old fonte that we’d love to do justice to, by restoring well. Hence the reason we’re looking for people with experience! We think it could be a really nice project for somebody with an interest in historical stone work.

We could also use people with more general experience for help on the land, and with work on our house renovation. Hard workers, with a good sense of humour would be great, lots of sanding to do! And lime plastering if anyone has experience in using lime. It’s be great to hear from you.

Work would be 4 hours a day. Weekends and afternoons off.

There are lots of things to do here in your free time. We live 10 minutes walk from a village with cafes, bars, a swimming pool and a restaurant. Plus there are various walks on our doorstep, the historical towns of Marvão and Castelo de vide to explore, and in the summer lots of opening air swimming pools and river beaches to enjoy.

We can offer you a room in our house or set up a fully equipped tent (with a real bed) in one of the fields if you’d prefer more independence. (This option is probably best from April onwards, when it starts to get warmer.) Of course we will feed you too! We don’t have a spare car though, so ideally you’d have your own vehicle.

Please get in touch if you can prove your experience in drystone walking/stone masonry, and we can discuss plans further.

Thank you.
