I'm a 65 years young man who grew up in the North of Germany. Had all my life dominated by travelling the world, living in Australia 7 years.

In 2013, without sailing experience, I bought a sailing catamaran and ended up sailing it with experienced friends to the Algarve here in Portugal. 2017 I quit sailing and bought my piece of land in the Algarve on the border river "Rio Guadiana", with Spain on the other side of the river. So now I am in the third year on this land an thriving, feel a bit like a settler in nature in a rural area with a great community of neighbours and people in and around the next village Alcoutim. I cultivate some olive trees and kitchen herbs using the fertile soil along the River Guadiana. So I am attempting to stay at a one place after a long time of a nomadic life.

The land is situated in a Nature Protection Area, so the living conditions are very simple. You would stay on a caravan and we share a charming outdoor kitchen to prepare and have our meals. There is a strong feeling of cooperation among a couple of neighbors here, so we offen get together for dinner, barbecues, coffee break or giving each other a helping hand.

I'm always working on some improvements on my wood structures and of course in my kitchengarden, so some help is welcome regarding carpentry, painting, olive trees maintanance and so on.

I am not a good cook, so if you want to be the chef some days, you are more than welcome. Volunteers would come grocery shopping with me so you can pick stuff you like to prepare so that we are all happy and satisfied!

It is about 4 km away to the next village, Alcoutim. There is a small shop where you can buy basic grocery, plenty Cafés, library, farmacy and a ferry boat to the Spanish side. You can lend one of my bicycles or my canoe to go through the river. The biggest city is Vila Real de Santo Antonio, about 35km south of here, on the Atlantic coast at the estuary of the Guadiana.
