We are Said (34) from the Sahara and Linde (31) from the Netherlands. It is our pleasure to meet you! I, Said, come from a big Amazigh-Tuareg family. After growing up in the Sahara desert and living many years a nomadic life, our family settled down in a village called Tagounite. Now I live next to the small village Beni Hayoun, 4 kilometers outside Tagounite, where we are working on recovering 200-year old mud house. Behind the house there is a large garden which needs a lot of care and work. Our aim is to make the land green again, bring the oasis life back and to grow enough food for us and for the community. Our wish is to recover and expand this house by (mostly) natural materials and to make this area livable again. The place carries many memories and the history of our ancestors. As a child, my family and I still moved around as nomads, but we would sometimes visit my grandparents in this area, who had already stopped in the area of Tagounite. After rebuilding this old house, ...

Welcome to our guest house in Tagounite, Morocco, where we offer a unique opportunity to experience the Berber way of life in the Sahara desert. Our family has lived in the desert all our lives, and we're excited to share our knowledge and culture with volunteers from around the world. Each day, we cook traditional Moroccan Berber food and eat together three times, while surrounded by the beautiful mountains for hiking. From the hostel, you can walk to sand dunes in just 30 minutes. Our guest house is still under construction, and we're looking for volunteers who can help us rebuild the mud house, fix walls, build new rooms, take care of the animals, pick the dates of the palm trees, cook, clean, make bricks, and finish/fix the water reserves. The work depends on the season, so there's always something different to do. As a volunteer, you'll have the opportunity to choose the work that you would like to do, and everyone does what they can or wish to do. We'll be happy to show you wha...

Planning visiting Kenya? Come and help in a grass roots initiative and women's shelter in Naivasha. We created a safe place for victims of sexual and domestic violence and is the first of its kind in the country. Many defenseless women are beaten or sexually abused, separated from their children and literally kicked out on the streets. It has only been in very recent years that gender desks have been established at police stations around the country. But even with that first step towards helping these women and their children, the reality is that it will take years for women and girls to realize their rights and safety under the law. Therefore we are committed to providing help for our sisters in Kenya who desperately need our help. And we are asking you to join with us in this critical initiative. We are looking for volunteers on an on going basis for short term and longer term work with both basic or advanced skills (see below) in exchange for free food and accommodation. - f...

I came to Kenya in 1990 following a request from parents in Kenya to set up a Waldorf school here. I stayed because of the 7 acres of land that we bought and developed near the school. Located on the southern edge of the Nairobi National Park, we hear the lions growl at night, and during the day we see zebras, giraffes and antelopes. The magic still surrounds us today. I spent the years 2001 to 2020 in Germany. Now my Kenyan adopted daughter, my grandchild and I returned to our farm to kiss it awake from their slumber. Who would like to help us? Four rental units finance the development of a permaculture farm on barren soil. Our team of 12 includes management, craftsmen and farmers. There is a lot to do in the farm and around the buildings. More details on request. Someone with permaculture skills and experience is warmly welcome to join our team as a supervisor for part of the day. food, lodging, a warm community and African wildlife around the corner, including sunset over the Ngong ...

We are a Berber family in a village on the edge of the Sahara desert. We have a bivouac with traditional Berber tents situated 8 km from Tamegroute, the village where we live. We are looking for people to stay in our bivouac and people to help with our activity in the village. We would like to find someone who wants to live in our Sahara Desert Bivouac camp for a while, take care of it and keep it clean and tidy for tourists. We have electricity here and you buy water from the village to keep at the camp. We offer you accommodation in our typical nomad tents, but food isn't provided if no tourists are present. However, we can buy food and organise food transport for you by local people for a good price or you can be independent and take care of your needs on your own, as you prefer. The Sahara Desert Bivouac is sometimes full of tourists, sometimes there is only Larson who takes care of the bivouac or cooks for tourists, but sometimes there is no one there for days. So we are lookin...

Hello everyone! My name is Imad. I am Moroccan and passionate about farming and Permaculture. I own a great piece of land in the natural surrounding not far from Zagora. I have the dream to turn this piece of land to a wonderful project. I wish that many volunteers from all around the world can make this a special and unique place. I wish that one day there will be next to cats, dogs, chicken, sheep and a camel, a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables. The volunteers should have a place for an authentic experience, a place to find life lasting friendships. It shall be an environment with a happy atmosphere where people can work together and learn from each other. The first steps will be to build and extend the sleeping, relaxing and bathroom facilities for the volunteers. Therefore mainly construction work needs to be done in the start. Next to that we will need to do general maintenance works for instance fixing the stall for the animals. There is as well always room to make t...

My name is Salah. I am 30 years old. I live in a small village in the province of Zagoura, Tagounite. The village is well-known for its tranquality and modesty of the few people who live here. The village is located in a very popular oasis in the area whose name is KTAWA. The oasis is surrounded by mountains and rivers. The village is located in the south-east of Morocco. Our ancestors used to live here for decades before most people immigrated to cities because of the draught and water-shortage. But we ( inherit of our ancestors) decided to come back to our origins and face all the difficulties. The village has some old buildings and Kasabahs that shows the real historical monuments that are left and traced by our ancestors. For nature and landscape, there are unique landings to grow wheat and palm trees that give dates. There are some wells that are used as water resources. For animals, there are sheep, goats, and chicken. Our ancestors used to herd sheep before they settled down here...

Current project: Ours is a small and friendly rural community in the Republic of Ghana, West Africa. We are always excited to hear from volunteers from any part of the world. Whether a volunteer wants to experience a different culture or adventure. Or a volunteer wants to provide help to people who need help most. Or whether a volunteer wants a break from the fast-paced urban life The following optional programmes are currently available. 1. We have many children in our community who need assistance in many ways; learn to read English, play football, sing, dance, maintain hygiene, or motivation to remain in school. 2. Through the help of 2 past volunteers, Ben from UK and Sylvain from France, we have a computer lab and currently we need help in maintaining it, and help in using it to teach basic computing skills to our children 3. Poverty is so high for some families in the community that their children attend school in tattered clothes and without pencils, pens and sandals and a...

After 20 years traveling the world, I came home to settle in Zimbabwe. Apart from certain challenges, it is absolutely wonderful and I love it. I have a beautiful acre plot in Harare's northern suburbs. I am trying to live a fairly organic life, growing my own fruit and vegetables, composting etc Now I am planting a food forest and digging a dam in my garden which will have fish and a waterfall. I am looking for gardeners, artists, carpenters, builders, SEO and website experts, photographers. There are a diversity of activities going on here. If you have skills I’m sure we can find a use for them. At the moment I’m trying to figure out how to cut liquor bottles and build a toilets block out of bottles. You will be asked to help for 5 hours a day Monday to Friday in exchange for; Room and board Use of wi-fi, pool etc I look forward to hearing from you. Regards Tanya

We are a small dairy farm producing high quality milk products with a small herd of sheep for wool and meat. We also have food gardens, chickens, bees and cats and dogs. We wish to expand our food production to include an extended agro-processing range (currently including cheese, butter, yoghurt, kombucha, sprouts). We require help with the day-to-day operations as well as building our dream which is a place where people want to come to because they are interested in seeing and experiencing primary and secondary food production. We also host school camps and receive visitors for educational and awareness raising activities.

Hi, My name is Hassan, I live 12 km from tagounite in a big traditional nomad house in a little, abandoned nomad village in a beautifull oasis. We are happy to receive people to help us build this house. I need help with making bricks, renovating the house, carrying sand, renovate kitchen, carrying water, cleaning. We have a livingroom, bedrooms, big garden, kitchen and enough space to relax. We eat together 3 meals a day. We ask 50 Dirham a day per person for the food. It's very calm here and remote and the village is mostly empty. We have a toilet. We work max 3 hours a day. 2 days a week you are free. I am happy to take you on desert tour with me and show you the desert I grew up in. We have wifi, we ask fee for it. A few times a week I go to tagounite, you can join me for shopping. There's a market twice a week. We have goats and chickens. I will take you to visit my family and you will meet my friends. There is enough to do here like visiting tagounite, the market, desert...

We are in need of volunteers for our community. We prefer volunteers who are willing to work, teach and show our children and community the good way how to make organic farm in order to save our environment. Teaching other subjects to the children, teach adults English lesson, coach our football club. We're flexible in what you chose to do. In the afternoons volunteers run a program called “English Corner” where they teach English classes to local people, helping adults to improve their English skills. Many strive to learn English in order to have better job opportunities in the future. The classes are a wonderful opportunity for the volunteers and the local community members to learn from each other. The cultural exchange helps the volunteers to leaning and understand more about Tanzanian customs and develop an ear for local Swahili. I am Nixon, the founder of the organisation, and want to invite you to stay with me and my family for a while. I have a wonderful wife and three amazing children. My daughters are 17 and 12 years old and my son is 7. For the past 20 years I have persevered through times of struggle to support the local community. We have overcome many challenges and are now rebranding and rebuilding as “Imara Community Growth Network”. icgn.or.ke I started the ‘Good Samaritan’ organisation in 2004 with the mission to create and promote opportunities for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our community. We focussed on women and girls with a difficult background, (e.g. due to the post-election violence in 2007) or orphans and underprivileged children. But the problems which disadvantage youth, girls and women ...

Our little seed is sprouting into a beautiful tree throughout special connections, a bit of craziness and one vision: Live in Oneness. We are nature lovers and we have an organic sustainable farm on the beautiful island of Mauritius. Located at the heart of forest and rivers, it is as a meeting place for like-minded individuals with nature and evolution as philosophy.
