Do you want to volunteer in the Caribbean?? The role isn't rocket science and the work’s not crazily demanding and we don’t expect any specific experience. What we do want is someone who is happy to muck in with a few different things, help us stay organised and who'll be nice to our guests and to our team. Our guests are generally English speaking but Spanish is useful and other languages would be a plus.

We have a team of 4-5 volunteers at a time, two owners on site, a security guard, cleaner and two dogs – we all work together to a safe, clean place where our guests, and us, get to have a good time.

Our volunteers work shifts to covering our front desk and bar area. On shift you’ll be expected to check in/check out guests, look after a pretty simple bar, keep an eye on the hostel in general and point guests in the right direction when they need information about the area ( See not rocket science)

From time to time you might be asked to do something else; help with the... more inside

We have a wonderful organic farm around 30 miles from Santa Domingo. Carolina has been working on the farm for 16 years building it from barren nothingness to an established food forest and supporting edible garden. We have turkeys, chickens, and geese currently and are working to build more diverse animal and plant ecosystems on the land.

The current aim is to employ techniques of permaculture to promote sustainability and to improve ecology to create a sanctuary of self-sufficiency which can serve as an educational model. We intend to open the space as an area for learning permaculture techniques, including all aspects of eco-sustainability from horticulture to natural building to economic sustainability and fair share.

We welcome volunteers to help us improve the farm both physically and socially, inviting innovative creators and passionate hard workers. We believe in creating a place of peace in harmony with the natural ecosystems, extending this out to work with the local... more inside

At Taino Farms, we focus on using alternative methods of growing food. Our main objective is to keep a closed loop system where all the nutrient needs of the food that we produce can be found on our site, or at least on the island. We have been focusing on nutrient dense food production and creating an overarching design for the whole farm. The site was originally a large cow pasture when we began planting fruit trees on it in 2005. Since then we have turned what used to be a barren patch of invasive grass into a small oasis pact with rare fruit trees, natural jungle, water systems for retaining runoff, bees, a forest of food, and annual garden beds that provide us with daily salads. We have big dreams for the future too! From a stilted huts in the jungle, to aquaponics systems, to permaculture design ideas like a herb spiral and food forests.

All of our interns live at the farm so it's a interesting and fun community. You will also be living in a Dominican community working alo... more inside
