********HURRICANE/EARTHQUAKE UPDATE: THE FINCA LIVES ON!!********

Thank you for reading our profile in our time of most need.

First and foremost, we are grateful that we suffered no loss of life nor injuries to our families, friends and neighbors.

Like many of our co-patriots, we have sustained property damage (part of the roof blown off, windows shattered and water/wind damage) but our crops suffered the worst of it.

Nonetheless, we accept what the Mountain gives us and know that there is a gift waiting to reveal itself amongst all this tragedy; for that is the way of the Universe and we trust our Divine Pachamama and Ancestors to help us rebuild, replant and begin anew.

Having said that, we could use all the help we can and are therefore definitely accepting new helpers starting immediately. Here are the details of our current situation so you can make an informed decision about helping us rebuild.

We are grateful to have electric and running water back after a... more inside

Puerto Rico is in the Caribbean, surrounded by sea water and very limited resources. Since 2011, we manage an agricultural, educational and community project in the town of Lares, the Proyecto Agroecológico Campesino/PAC. Our mission has been to produce food in a sustainable way, facilitate a practical learning space and share knowledge with the community. For this we work in the transformation of five acres, historically
exploited with agrochemicals for the cultivation of coffee and citrus fruits, in an integral farm where combines crop production, animal husbandry, resource management, restoration
of soil and ecosystems, inspired by the agroecological principles. These tasks have
been accompanied by self-training programs and workshops for small producers of the
region, practical student visits, open farms and support brigades between producers. We invite you to join us on our every day challenge to build a sustainable farm while we share knowledge and experiences. Our home can... more inside

We sold it all and moved from Florida to Puerto Rico to start a coffee and watercress farm (no coffee yet but preparing the land). We have also launched the third coffee tree adoption program in the world working with select specialty coffee farmers in Puerto Rico.

We are a family of 2 baby girls, a husband and a wife. We wanted to become part of the solution to rebuilding Puerto Rico and decided coffee was our mission. To put the island back on the map for the highest quality specialty coffee the way it used to be over 100 years ago.

We have a 20 acre farm in the forest, in the mountains with a private river and waterfall on our property.

NOTE: We have last minute space this summer of 2017!

ABOUT US: We are a small eco-bed and breakfast in the El Yunque rainforest of Puerto Rico. Deep in the rainforest. We rent villas to guests from all over the world who are interested in staying in the rainforest. When volunteers stay they are part of the family and eat with us, mostly vegetarian and fish.

We are gradually trying to make our place more sustainable. We built a large fish pond with a filtration tank that grows watercress. Our construction is from recycled materials and our energy use is as minimal as possible. We collect some of our own water (fairly easy in the rainforest).

HELP WE NEED: We are a working bed and breakfast and are continually making structural or garden improvements. There are paying guests at all times on the property so we cannot work or make any noise at night or in the mornings before the guests go out hiking in the rainforest. Our schedule is always working around the guests. We are n... more inside

We are a small family owned hostel in Culebra, Puerto Rico! We are looking for people to help with general maintenance of the hostel.

Culebra is considered by many the star of Puerto Rico with the distinction of having the 3rd most beautiful beach in the world, Flamenco Beach. We also have gorgeous reefs for snorkeling, fabulous restaurants/bars, and a positive laid back environment.

The help here is versatile: depending on your skills and talents you would help with housekeeping, gardening, construction and hostel office help. The work is divided in shifts, so you will have days off and lots of free time to explore the island. We expect around 30 hrs/per week for this exchange.

Our hostel believes in gender equality and good communal atmosphere, and we look forward to hosting individuals with the same type of values. We also wish you wouldn't be a heavy drinker.

We are looking for individuals willing to commit to stay at least 6 weeks, but if the fit is right, we are op... more inside

I have a farm in the rainforest of Puerto Rico that is really a paradise. We need to do a lot of planting, building,I have a hostel and a spa that needs someone to care for it. There is so much to do that I am overwhelmed and therefore I am seeking some adventurous people who want to start something. The only issue is food so please have a budget for yourself of about ten dollars a day for food until we start producing our own. Also look us up on facebook as Hacienda Guaraguao or Don Toler. It tends to be more efficient to contact me there.

This is a backpacker hostel that looks to connect the university center of Puerto Rico with international visitors. Cultural and outdoor activities are key.

Helpers will be involved with receiving guests, cleaning duties, furniture and house remodeling, gardening and repairs, and support for the greater community.

I provide a bunk for helpers in the shared room, and meals and/or food to cook. In exchange I ask helpers for six hours Monday through Friday, and weekends free. I try to take helpers on excursions with me to the wild areas of the island when possible.

As a host I look for helpers with initiative and smiles. I fell in love with Puerto Rico after a short stay, and enjoy connecting my guests and helpers with the larger community and activities around the hostel.
