Kia Ora!
Help wanted December

We’re a couple living on a large lifestyle block on the edge of the Waima river arm of the Hokianga Harbour.
There’s a variety of work around the house, bush, gardens and farmland.

The property is a mixture of pasture, orchard, remnant native forest and undulating land in transition back to native bush. We also have a lot of tough weeds we are clearing.

We try to incorporate permeculture and spend most of our time working outside. Our farm follows the Ohuri river with a magical mangrove forest and native wetland for about a kilometre to the confluence with the Waima river.

There are 2 spare rooms in a separate area of our big historic house (it was once part of the hotel in Rawene 100 years ago). It`s very comfortable and private but we share the same bathroom.

4 - 4.5 hours work for every night stayed.
Nicky has hurt her back so we need help around the house as well as outside
Work is before lunch so afternoons are free to explo... more inside

Bay of Islands, Kerikeri lifestyle block with 3 Highland cows, 5 alpacas, ducks, peahens, guinea fowl and our much loved dog Honey. Looking for a couple to work a few hours a day to help out around the place - outside with the farm and inside with the house, we're pretty easy going with hours that you work, leaving you with plenty of time to explore the beautiful North or work. You'll have a private cabin, separate from the main house with a small kitchen/sitting area and bathroom. Ideal location for the Bay of Islands - halfway between Kerikeri and Waipapa with Pahia only 20 mins away. Owning a car would be handy, no public transport here, but Waipapa and even Kerikeri are only a walk away.

We've lived overseas for many years, including time in South America, Asia and the Middle East, and returned six years ago to start our 'off grid adventure'. Having 'internationalized' it's been time to put some roots down (literally) in a sustainable, creative and co-evolutionary way. These days we're a family of four (kids aged 3 and 6) and a friendly dog. We speak some Spanish and a little Japanese and would receive foreigners eagerly (also fellow NZers of course). We're one hour's drive from the nearest towns (Kaitaia and Kerikeri) although a small organic co-op is twenty-five minutes away. Neighbours include a Bee-Keeper and his family, artists, potters and homesteaders, some of whom are open to receiving helpers who may wish to spend more time in the area.
People wishing to learn about setting up off-grid so that they can do so themselves would be able to pick up valuable skills at our place. Because we are still building our home, accommodation and facilities are limited. H... more inside

We live in Waipapa/Kerikeri on a rural, 4ha life-style property. We have cows, ducks, chickens and a large vegetable garden. There is separate 2 bedroom accommodation for guests.

The intercity bus stops in Kerikeri. Our property is 5km from State Highway 10. We will collect you from Kerikeri if necessary.

Help needed is varied: gardening, pruning trees, drain clearing, room painting and repair, building painting and repair, weed control, farm maintenance, fencing, chopping wood.
In return we will provide free accommodation and meals.

Most of our food comes off the property and we aim to be as sustainable as possible.

Our wee rural Croft is situated on the Tutukaka Coast, 30 minutes north of Whangarei; surrounded by pastures, paddock, and bush; with plenty of walking tracks out the back gate and a string of beaches starting a 5-minute drive down the hill. We aim for sustainability and a low impact footprint on the land.
We have raised bed gardens, terraces, orchards, ducks in the pond, chickens, 2 pregnant goat girls and 2 young dogs, a sacred grove, native bush, and a babbling brook.
The accommodation is a private land yacht cabin with high-speed internet, shower, toilette, and parking.

There is always something to do here and we could use some help: skills, and knowledge with
- carpentry, painting, gardening, cooking, cleaning and animal upkeep.
- One yurt is up, two to go and finish out with mud brick courtyard, vermiculture toilet block.
- If you would like to experience the wild NZ bush whilst learning how to trap Possums there is an opportunity here.
- Our HelpX'er said learning... more inside

I have been living in Whangarei for most of my life - love it here :-) I`ve just purchased a beautiful waterfront bach 15 mins from Whangarei CBD. I`m also flatting with social / active flatmates and there`s lots of fun things to do nearby.

With these homes there`s plenty of work to be done around - including painting, gardening, housework etc.

I`d like to meet some travellers to help out with these and happy to introduce / show around some of northland`s best attractions / secrets!
Can provide sleeping quarters, food and drinks for around 4 hours work per day.. Can also potentially provide a vehicle to borrow / further allowances dependent on the level of work..

Also if anyone has any specific experience and job history as a mechanic or builder I would happily pay a good hourly wage for some work.

Would prefer to host helpers with experience or those in 20s+

Seeking helper interested in free accomodation, food and learning about sailing in exchange for help with childcare.

I'm looking for an organized and easy going person who is honest, sensitive and empathetic. You will be living with us on board a 52' sailboat in Whangarei harbour. Mainly helping us care for my 10 year old special needs son for the month of January. Some light boat work as well. Previous experience with special needs children preferred but not required. This will be a challenging, unique and rewarding experience for the right person.
