Hello and Welcome to NZ,

Please WRITE THE DATES you are available and what experience you have had.

March is booked out.

I built this eco-house from earth bricks and natural timbers, because I wanted a healthy, relaxing environment.
It's on a 17 acre (6.7 hectare) paradise looking onto native bush, located in the Bombay Hills, about 60 km south of Auckland CBD and 12km from the bus stop or the nearest shop.

I've studied Organic Horticulture and grow our food that way, living a holistic, healthy lifestyle. There's avocado, lemon, lime, mandarin, banana, macadamia trees, as well as fresh vegetables and herbs.

Personally I eat an "O" blood type diet including meat, without grains and dairy, but I can buy them for you. Please tell me your food needs as I want you to be happy.

Mature helpers who speak English are welcome, so they can follow instructions and have enough life experience to see what needs to be done and tidy up as they go.

I expect 5 hours work a day,... more inside

Available from Feb 25 onwards.

There is plenty of general maintenance, getting ready for the chestnut and olive harvest time. Chestnut harvest is mid-March, for about 4 weeks, and then sometime mid-April unto end of May. The olive harvest depends upon when the olives are ready, and sometimes the harvest is in two halves - 'early' and 'late'. I generally work with you.

We are 'half way' up the Kaipara Harbour's South Head peninsular, and some 70km north west of central Auckland. We grown chestnut and olives, plus other fruit trees. Helpers would assist orchard maintenance and associated activities, and harvesting chestnut and olives in season, .

Chestnuts harvest starts in mid-March, for about a month, and then, in due course, the olive harvest. And then there is always general orchard maintenance.

Now restoring two Chevrolet 1929 trucks - one a tip truck, the other a van. Assistance couols be useful - a mechanic or a cabinet maker/boat builder/kitchen maker. ... more inside

About us:

We live on a small 5 acre lifestyle block, 48 km South of Auckland CBD, that we share with a Bengal cat (Head of Pest Control), a Sydney Silkie dog (Head of Security), one horse, five hens (egg machines) and a rooster!

We don`t have children living at home so the help needed is mainly outdoors. With the help of some fabulous helpx helpers we have established the kitchen gardens and we`re now working on general gardens and landscaping so help with this would be greatly appreciated. Help is also needed with all the other tasks that need doing on a lifestyle block such as lawn mowing, planting, mulching, grubbing thistles, paddock weeds and brush-cutting (strimming/weed-eating).

We can only host helpers for short stays of up to a week, and would prefer mature, practical-minded people with a few years life experience, that can work independently. None of the jobs are difficult but do require a reasonable level of fitness. Non-smokers only please.

A very comfo... more inside
