Small waterside property. Bit of an unruly backyard that we want to turn into a small personal orchard. One cat (who loves company) and some chickens (who don't love company)and just added three ducks to the clan. They are not sure about us but hopefully with time they know they are just for snail control not eating. Looking for person or couple to help outdoors in the garden and some odd jobs (nothing too taxing) in exchange for accommodation and (vegan) food. Would suit person who likes serenity, time to write, walks, kayaking. We look forward to meeting you.

Will you be our first helper/s?

We are on a beautiful remote wilderness bush property that has a stream running through it which then flows into a river at the front of the property. Its very peaceful here and when the sun is shining it feels like paradise! We are learning self reliance in food in our journey to self sufficiency. We are situated a 1˝ hour (55km) drive from Opotiki/shops. Or a 2˝ hour drive from Gisborne (see below).

We offer you a truly unique opportunity to escape the 'modern' world for a while, for those who seek to get off the beaten track! This lifestyle offers the chance to learn many aspects of getting back to basics and growing your own food.

We need your help now! All you need is an open mind and be easy-going (like us and our neighbours), a good level of fitness, a willingness to give anything a go and happily work as a team or independently. Bring your skills and knowledge and we'll do our best in task matching where possible. A love for Nature,... more inside

Hi,

I`m a beekeeper in need of assistance, either with the bees directly or not. I`m located 16km South of Te Puke on a property that has a back boundary of native forest. I`m usually able to host people at any time of year, but am busiest in the spring. I currently have building projects happening, as well as lots of painting, waxing new bee frames, and also hands on beekeeping for anyone who is keen.

I also keep sheep and cattle on the property here, and hunt deer and pigs in the forest. These grass and forest fed animals form a large part of the menu here, so vegetarians probably won`t be happy with the diet. I cater to lots of herbivores and they all have hooves or paws.

The accommodation is a spare room in the house. The house is a late 1800`s villa in need of replacement, but it keeps the weather out and I find it comfortable. Housework isn`t high on my priority list, but we try to keep it liveable. Any clean freaks who have never been outside a sterile environment ma... more inside

We running an automotive country workshop where we fix and service cars, 4WDs, trailers, tractors and all sorts of machinery. In our spare time we look after our little farm, some sheep, some cattle, a couple of pigs and bees. And we are always in need of a couple of helpful hands to support us.
Oh man and we love to get to know different cultures and people.
We grow and eat our own meat, fruit and vegetables. Gustav also brews his own beer and makes wine and cider. The brewing season has started again and there's cider, wine and various beers to taste. Grapes are ripening nicely too.
We also finally started to make our own tea and we call it Lotzlong ;)
A mature, non-smoking, self-organized person, preferable not a vegetarian, to give us a hand with house and land, would fit best into our lifestyle.
You will have to join into our daily routines: breakfast is at 6.45am and then we feed all the animals, especially the hungry pigs and the dogs (otherwise there's a lot of hungr... more inside
