We are an older couple looking for a couple of young people to help us with some yard work, fencing, painting, window cleaning and the like on a property that we have recently purchased. We have done some of the things that we needed to do but there is still more to do. We would be looking at doing this early in the New Year 2020
We have used Helpx helpers in the past and enjoy sharing our culture and yours.
Gisborne is a small city with wonderful beaches for surfing and swimming and fishing.Right now the sun is shining and so warm. There are great bike and walking tracks near by There is also considerable seasonal work available during the summer months and longer.
There is a self contained unit next to our house that would be available to use.

GISBORNE BEES laid back lifestyle, awesome beaches and the best surf breaks on the sunny East Coast ...

Opportunity for one or two people to enjoy free accommodation and food for a week or two in exchange for some help around the house and with my bee keeping hobby. You will have your own room and facilities in a clean and modern house in the suburbs. I am specifically looking for someone to help me with honey harvesting at the end of February 2020, for about a week. It will be hard work and a lot of fun!

This is a great chance to experience bee keeping in New Zealand and maybe learn something new. No prior experience is required, but you shouldn't be allergic to bees (obviously).

And perhaps you can play some guitar by the outdoor fire place in the evening ;-)

Message me for further detail. Cheers; Hendrik

East coast living. My mother and have a small property in Te Araroa. I run a small business making and selling maori Arts and Crafts, mainly flax woven items. I am currently playing around with the idea of building a room from plastic bottles filled with sand and using them as building blocks. I also want to make a pizza oven. Currently I am at the filling the bottles with sand stage, I have a few but still need more. I also have a section that I would like help clearing. I live in a place with the sea and the Bush close by. I can offer accommodation in a caravan and I can give meals. I am willing to share my culture and teach someone to weave in exchange for 2-4 hours of work a day.

"WOOFING ON THE EDGE OF THE EARTH"

This is a unique chance to live and work on one of the most eastern farms of the world.

Definitely a Must-Do for any kind of traveler.

My variety of things to do is big, like help running a campground as well as the farms, or with a bit of leisure time you can go fishing, or walk along the beach, or walk up the hill to see old Maori Pa sites.

On the farm, we feed and herd the animals, drive the quad and mower, have a lot of other experiences and cook if you like.

So it is everything except boring woofing on the edge of the earth.

Only one requirement is necessary, I expect you to bring a serious working attitude along. Everything else I am keen to teach you.

You will live with me on the farm, enjoying my tasty food and learning basic Maori words.

The best thing, you see THE FIRST SUNRISE IN THE WORLD for FREE while you are staying here.

So come and experience the farm feeling for a few days or weeks or longer if y... more inside

Come and enjoy a wonderful spot on the beautiful East Coast with our happy family.

We are based 8km from Gisborne city center in the lovely surf community of Okitu/Wainui. Staying with us you will have your own well appointed studio with fantastic views of the beach...drift off to sleep to the sound of the surf and awake to see the glorious sun rise over the ocean.

We have a lifestyle property with free range chickens, a dog, berries, fruit trees, citrus trees and a vegetable garden to enable us to live as self sufficiently as possible. Which also means that there is plenty of jobs to be done.

We offer you accommodation in a self contained studio along with providing you your evening meal in return for 4 hours help/day/person around our property, in our home, or perhaps even child minding.

We are absolutely fine with flexible work hours to suit the weather (or the surf) but you do need to be able to work unsupervised most of the time.

You need to be physically fit... more inside

We run a farm about 30km out of Gisborne in a fabulous rural area. So you need your own transport to reach us. We have 1100 acres of beautiful land to walk and sightsee over. We breed our own Bulls, for our yearly sale. We also have cows, sheep, pet lambs and also a beautiful calf, two cats, (farm)dogs, and a lot of fun. There are always jobs that we need a bit of help with, for example woodwork, gardening, playing tennis, stockwork, fencing and putting golf balls.

You will have your own room in our house. In your leisure you could use our tennis court, go for a walk, spend your time with the animals or go into Gisborne or Rere Rockslide and the Eastwoodhill Arboratum are only minutes away. Wi fi internet connection.
There is always something to do.
If you have special dietary needs or a vegetarian, you will need to provide some of your own food lentils, couscous, or any veges that you might think you need. Meat meals are provided, but vegetarian is up to you.
Your own car ... more inside
