Tokomaru Bay, 90 kms north of Gisborne, is a small coastal community with a predominantly Maori population. Our seaside property overlooks this beautiful bay. Comprising of a pottery workshop, Te Waihi Stream Gallery and a large two storey home and gardens. Plenty of opportunities for fishing, diving and surfing and swimming, walking along the beach or climbing the surrounding hills. Interesting local history. A chance to see a working pottery in action. Help is needed in the garden generally as well as landscaping in certain places, house painting, building and restoration projects, gathering and chopping firewood and other household tasks.

We are a married couple in our mid thirties with three young children (Emma who is 6 and Ben who is 5 years old and Angus is 3 years old ) on a family sheep and beef farm, we also grow asparagus in the spring which we take to the local farmers market each Saturday. The location of the farm is approximately 40 minutes from Gisborne and a short drive from the Rere rockslide, Rere waterfall and Eastwoodhill Arboretum.

We are looking for keen and energetic people to come and stay and be a part of our family and partake in our busy daily lives. This would involve spending time with our children, helping around and in the house and garden, getting out and participating on the farm and the asparagus patch.
At this time of year our main requirement from helpers is to help with kids, feeding pet lambs, getting into the vegie garden, helping on the farm and primarily assisting with the asparagus harvest (end of September through until November). All major asparagus and farm work is fully ... more inside

We live in the small coastal community of Tokomaru Bay. Largely Maori population with a lot of cultural and history.
We own a large overgrown property overlooking the sea and wharf and need help keeping it maintained. The work involves clearing weeds, gardening and general varied maintenance. At present we have a native tree planting project.
Good surfing , walking and biking in your time out. A very unique kiwi experience off the beaten track.

"WOOFING ON THE EDGE OF THE EARTH"

This is a unique chance to live and work on one of the most eastern farms of the world.

Definitely a Must-Do for any kind of traveler.

My variety of things to do is big, like help running a campground as well as the farms, or with a bit of leisure time you can go fishing, or walk along the beach, or walk up the hill to see old Maori Pa sites.

On the farm, we feed and herd the animals, drive the quad and mower, have a lot of other experiences and cook if you like.

So it is everything except boring woofing on the edge of the earth.

Only one requirement is necessary, I expect you to bring a serious working attitude along. Everything else I am keen to teach you.

You will live with me on the farm, enjoying my tasty food and learning basic Maori words.

The best thing, you see THE FIRST SUNRISE IN THE WORLD for FREE while you are staying here.

So come and experience the farm feeling for a few days or weeks or longer if y... more inside

We are a young, easy going family (2 kids, 2 & 5), on a lifestyle block close to Wainui Beach in Gisborne. We keep a few livestock and are looking to meet travellers who are happy to help out around the garden and property - weeding, planting, pruning and maintenance.
We have a spare room with a double bed, Wifi is provided and we are within walking distance to the beach with great surf.

Waihau beach is a small beach side community of 12 homes all set on vistas of the sea.
We have 1500 sq mtr property about 50 mtrs off the beach with beautiful sea views. There is reasonably good surf and fishing and a great beach to walk and lay around. We have about 20 different fruit trees and we grow most of our veggies. We require help to do gardening and pruning of trees. We usually work for 3-4 hours per day and the rest of the time will be yours. We require you at the beginning of October.Look forward to your reply. Please email us for enquiries.
