Kia ora tatou,

We are a family with two kids (10 and 5) looking for people to help out around the place. Work can include gardening, tree planting, pruning fruit trees, childcare, mowing lawns, chopping wood, building, repairs and maintenance, housework etc.

We are a tri-lingual family speaking Te Reo Maori, swiss-german and English. If you speak Te Reo or swiss-german, that would be extra awesome.

We are into permaculture and climate justice activism, and are involved in Parihaka and marae around here.

We have a spare sleepout or you can stay in your van/tent. We are mostly vegetarian. We live on SH45 - also known as Surf Highway for all its amazing surf breaks - a couple of kilometres north of Pungarehu.

We are not looking for people right now to help with spring garden work.

We are currently establishing our 'sustainable back yard', creating a food forest on our 1\3 acre property in Frankley Park, New Plymouth. We moved here at the start of 2019 from rural Auckland where we lived in our two-yurt home which we built ourselves. Staying with us is a unique opportunity to be involved in the establishing stages of creating a food forest, gardens, off grid cabin accommodation and more. We'd love to meet you and share some experiences.

We are a family of 4. We have two lovely kids, 7 and 2, plus our tabby cat Angel. We are vegetarian... vegan except for eggs. We love food and Maree loves to cook! We all practice yoga and Maree teaches yoga and holistic childbirth preparation in addition to being a mum and homesteading our place. Keith works in marketing and innovation as well as doing some inspirational speaking and other creative endeavors.

We ask an average of 4 hours work a day, 6 days a week, as well as help with meals/dishes.

Do you like animals?
Would you like to stay at the foot of one of New Zealand's most beautiful mountain?

Then come to our 2 acre life style block in the heart of Taranaki with Rosie and Percy, the two pet kunekune pigs; Ben,the very friendly Shar Pei/ Labrador and a number of chickens and a (mostly) friendly host. The happiness of each one here is most important. That's why all of our animals are moving around freely within the lifestyle block and have good shelter.

There are plenty of areas that need help and whenever possible you can choose from a number of jobs you might enjoy.

Your help would include planting and gardening, painting and generally helping me to beautify the lifestyle block. Also brushing pet pig Rosie and Percy if you are a serious animal lover.

You'll receive good home cooked food from the friendly host and transport if you don't have your own to to the five km away Stratford which has so many cafes, its own art gallery and library... more inside

In return for at least 4 hours work per day, we provide accommodation and meals. We can accommodate 2 people in a queen bedroom. Prefer if you stay at least a week and have your own transport as we are 10 minutes drive from town. Non smokers only please. We are happy to share our meals (we eat gluten free and as much as possible from our garden). We live on a lifestyle block and are working towards becoming self sufficient. We love our animals which include a cat, 2 dogs, a rabbit, cows, chickens, fish and bees. We produce as much of our own fruit and veggies as we can using organic principles. There are always jobs to do!
Our interests include mountain biking, fishing, ceramics (I have a kiln), home brewing and meeting interesting people!

Taranaki has an amazing mountain with lots of tramping in the Egmont National Park. It is also well known to surfers for the local surf beaches. Pukekura park, the coastal walkway and Mangamahoe mountain bike park are all worth a visit. We h... more inside

I recently leased my farm out but the leaser would probably welcome help especially in the spring calving time. Other than that there is plenty of work around my house to help with and fire wood to get in and gardens to tidy and trees to prune. I'm an open minded man and interested in all walks of life. I like to make sure it's a home away from home feeling for you.

EARLY SPRING - 01 September 2020
We are looking for people with skills and interest in springtime planting. We are still pruning shelter and avocado trees and moving livestock. If you are keen to slab up some wood with the chainsaw mill and build rustic benches, we need someone with the confidence to do this.

Our water systems and vertical garden trellis plantings also need development. Spring seed planting of chilli and other seeds in trays has started, so there is a variety of work.

If this work is of interest, we offer accommodation, shared meals and music. We ask helpers to prepare or assist with meal preparation for three nights a week. We normally share lunch preparation as well. Breakfast is self serve - we try to do this together to discuss jobs for the day, meals and shopping lists.

Please let us know if you have special dietary requirements and any equipment, tools or experience that you can offer. If you don't have lots of experience, we are after people willin... more inside
