We use permaculture principles, but are not organic certified, and are learning a lot as we go! We have 2 children (4years and 1year), 12 hens, 2 chicks, a rooster, a dog and two cows and are located 7 minutes North of Hawera in a rural setting.

We own a 15 room, homely, friendly backpackers, set on city fringe, but surrounded by nature. We often need help with our housekeeping, reception, and social media. Full training given, however we do require a longer commitment for the reception position, unless you have experience, as there is a lot of training. 10 hours per week, with plenty of time off, would return accommodation, unlimited wifi, and free bikes and laundry.

The hostel is located next to the Te Henui River walkway, with scenic bush outlook, lovely birdsong, and sunny garden, picnic and bbq area. We sleep as many as 40, and have a nice friendly atmosphere in the lodge. We have bbqs, and shared meals.

New Plymouth is a wonderful place to visit, especially in the summer; we have great surf, and award winning walkways, not to mention our majestic mountain for outdoor adventures.

Please call or Email Rachel, with some info about yourself, including a CV.

Hi, we are CURRENTLY BOOKED OUT until THE END OF JANUARY

Hi, we are a farming family with 4 teenagers (19 years old (moved out and lives and works on a different farm now),18,17 and 16 years old), milking 175 crossbreed cows OAD on a low input system.
We moved here from Switzerland in 2003 and speak English, Swiss and a mix of both =Swinglish ;o)
We would like to get some help with jobs on the farm and our runoff (a 30 ha block 10 min away where our young stock is) and in my big vegetable garden. If you like to cook, let me know. We eat our own meat, drink our own milk and have most vegetables from our garden.
If you would like to see more of the everyday farming live, come and stay with us for a week (or longer if you like it here) in beautiful south Taranaki.

Sorry, our internet is very rural and limited, we can't offer free wifi.

I am extremely fortunate to be living “The good life” on my little patch of urban paradise, situated in New Plymouth – “Beneath the Mountain and Beside the Sea”. “My Patch” is a very private well hidden ½ an acre of mostly gardens, with mature trees, fruit trees, large vegetable patch, a greenhouse, a shade house and 4 chickens. Lots of wonderful bird-life with Tui and Kereru visiting almost daily.

I grow as many varieties of vegetables, fruit and herbs as I can fit into available spaces. There is always plenty to do as my garden is always undergoing “transformations” as I endeavour to introduce raised bed gardening and try new methods. This November my garden is part of the Sustainable Trail Garden Festival so I will be requiring additional support to shape the gardens in readiness for this event.

From time to time I require assistance with activities such as pruning, harvesting, building simple wooden garden structures, chopping/gathering firewood, garden redevelopment,... more inside

UPDATE : We are ALWAYS looking for people who can build fences, do building jobs etc. if you are skilled with power tools...apply ANY TIME.

Otherwise...we are looking for Helpexers from MID OCTOBER until mid DECEMBER. After that, we need people in February and March next year. We need people for painting the house, minor repairs on furniture, gardening.....( just whatever you can do really! ) If you are good with administering websites , photographing paintings, and general organisation of a tiny business....that would be great. We prefer that people stay a minimum of a week . Most helpxers end up staying with us for one or two weeks. We are flexible. It’s WAY better if you book ahead a few days (or more!) because we can’t always take people with no ‘ notice’.

I'm a painter with a home art gallery . We have a large house, sleepout, pool and a huge FALE (pool house in the first photo) My husband works in I.T. and is a keen rugby player. ... more inside
