We have a 9.5 acre lifestyle block (pasture, native bush, natural spring & run cattle) that is off-the grid.

Maria Lempriere, is your host and a food event specialist who offers skill-based workshops at Peihana Farm, a family owned off-the-grid, solar-powered working farmlet that grows seasonal produce, seedlings, herbs, beef and pork with integrity. Workshop topics are focused on teaching traditional food and fibre making techniques and gardening methods. Her popular workshops always include delicious seasonal garden to table food lovingly prepared in her farm kitchen using an Esse woodburner oven or BBQ. We need help with getting our proerty ready for this.. includes gnl garden/orchard maintenance, cooking, hard landscaping and fencing. We speak English. I am extremely fortunate to be living “The good life” on my little patch of urban paradise, situated in New Plymouth – “Beneath the Mountain and Beside the Sea”. “My Patch” is a very private well hidden ½ an acre of mostly gardens, with mature trees, fruit trees, large vegetable patch, a greenhouse, a shade house and 4 chickens. Lots of wonderful bird-life with Tui and Kereru visiting almost daily.

I grow as many varieties of vegetables, fruit and herbs as I can fit into available spaces. There is always plenty to do as my garden is always undergoing “transformations” as I endeavour to introduce raised bed gardening and try new methods. This November my garden is part of the Sustainable Trail Garden Festival so I will be requiring additional support to shape the gardens in readiness for this event.

From time to time I require assistance with activities such as pruning, harvesting, building simple wooden garden structures, chopping/gathering firewood, garden redevelopment,... more inside

We own a 15 room, homely, friendly backpackers, set on city fringe, but surrounded by nature. We often need help with our housekeeping, reception, and social media. Full training given, however we do require a longer commitment for the reception position, unless you have experience, as there is a lot of training. 10 hours per week, with plenty of time off, would return accommodation, unlimited wifi, and free bikes and laundry.

The hostel is located next to the Te Henui River walkway, with scenic bush outlook, lovely birdsong, and sunny garden, picnic and bbq area. We sleep as many as 40, and have a nice friendly atmosphere in the lodge. We have bbqs, and shared meals.

New Plymouth is a wonderful place to visit, especially in the summer; we have great surf, and award winning walkways, not to mention our majestic mountain for outdoor adventures.

Please call or Email Rachel, with some info about yourself, including a CV.

Small Market Garden and work-in-progress Permaculture property in South Taranaki.

We have a 3.8acre (1.5ha) property that we are setting up to grow vegetables for local markets. We are still in the process of building garden beds for the market garden and the house garden. We would like help with the garden (mostly weeding!) and also building appropriate technology (eg greenhouse, rocket stove, accommodation). We are also working on a 260m2 Food Forest. We use permaculture principles, but are not organic certified, and are learning a lot as we go! We have 2 children (4years and 10months), 5 hens, a rooster and three cows and are located 7 minutes North of Hawera in a rural setting.

YOU WILL:
1. Be a NON-smoker.
2. Be motivated to learn about gardening and/or permaculture.
3. Have initiative.
4. Have a relaxed, fun-loving attitude.
5. Not mind early starts (2 small children!)
6. Prefer you to have your own vehicle so you can get out and about to see our beautiful region! ... more inside

We live on a marae. there are many houses and gardens to be cared for. The larger area is approx 19.2 hectares, the area we take care of is about 3 hectare. There are several buildings with two marae and many other buildings. The plan is to be organic in all the gardens on the pa. we are with ours.

Help through out the year would be welcome. Parihaka Pa, on which we live, is a historical site in New Zealand History, it would be ideal for those who want to be part of Maori culture and to help us out with various activities through out the year. The maori language is often used.

Marae style living, meals , sleep on the floor in the wharenui (living space) To be part of our family the culture we practice is based on our ancient maori practices.

We are close to the mountain, beaches, surf, the nearest city is New Plymouth, 50k's and Hawera is 63k's to the south. We have a grocery store 7k's away. Nearest petrol is there, it is closed on Saturday afternoon and Sunda... more inside
