Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we are sorry but we are not taking any new HelpX at this stage.

Do you want to get off the tourist trail and see a bit of NZ that not many people do??

We live in a small, friendly rural community, farming sheep and beef cattle, 40 minutes from Wanganui City. We also have 11 hectares of export kiwifruit orchards at home, and also in Wanganui. In Spring we usually rear calves and have pet lambs to feed. We also have dogs, a cat and chickens.

We are looking for motivated, happy, mature HelpXers aged at least 24 or older, with common sense, initiative, enthusiasm and willingness.

We can always use help with weeding flower and vege gardens, firewood and animal feeding and care depending on the time of year. We can show you what is happening around the farm and in the orchards. Help with meals, dishes, and the usual household chores etc.

There is usually something different happening every day - where we need help is mainly outside, and... more inside

We live in a quaint 3 bedroom house in the town of a rural area named Hunterville (50 mins north of Palmerston North and 50 south of Whanganui)!! Very central for visiting many of the middle/lower North Island tourist attractions; just over an hour to Mt Ruapehu, 2 hours to Taupo, 3 hours to Rotorua, 2 hours to Wellington, 3 hours to New Plymouth.

We have 2 acres, on which we have many pets; sheep,, miniature ponies, chickens, cat and dog. We also have other ponies/horses which live just down the road from us. We are a small family, just myself and my cute son Elliot, who is nearly 4 and Paisley who is 1 year old.

We are friendly, easy going people who love to share our home with guests. We have had 2 live in au pairs and lots of people stay with us through Help X too. I work from home doing a variety of different things - network marketing, in home child care and relief teaching.

Hunterville is a friendly and bustling community, with lots of opportunity for social intera... more inside

We live on a 5 acre lifestyle block 1 km from central Wanganui and our beautiful river. We share our small private golf course with a few red deer, 4 sheep and a loved old sheep dog.
We are looking for 2 positive, mature people, who like us, enjoy nature and semi country style living. In return for 4 hours work per day we offer you a private room and all meals. We have a large general accommodation business for up to 60 guests. It has now been operating for four years. While it is only a 15 minute walk to the centre of the city, with our spacious grounds there is a distinct feeling of being in the country.

Helpers have their own room and free internet. Food is provided or you can prepare your own if you prefer. Any helpers with special diets must prepare their own meals. Helpers are encouraged to become part of the family and help with cooking etc.

Our facilities include a games room with a pool table, indoor bowls and table tennis. There is a barbeque available.

We enjoy meeting helpers from anywhere in the world and in any age group.

We need helpers for several tasks:

We have a lot of help needed for the grounds and gardens. Anybody who is handy with a paintbrush or tools would also be welcome as we are always looking to improve our facility.

Inside we have cleaning and office work (mainly checking people in and out), ... more inside

WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR:
General assistance over autumn months from approximately end of March. Some help with firewood and painting tasks.

We run a tourist accommodation business with a difference. We are situated on the banks of the Whanganui River, surrounded by the Whanganui National Park, however the only access to our property is via boat or, the more popular option, by aerial cable car (the flying fox).
We are located 45km from Whanganui township with road access to the cable way via a beautiful scenic 45 min drive. Due to the rural location own transport is preferred as this will also enable you to explore the local area during time off.
We have various accommodation options including camping, glamping and self contained cottages. We also provide catering for some guests. Our accommodation is unique in that it is all built from reclaimed materials and therefore is rustic and quirky! We are off-grid for everything except electricity and have no cell phone acces... more inside

Hi I'm Khadisha and have enjoyed having Helpx stay for the last 7 yrs.

Jobs will be varied - out in the garden as well as clearing the guttering and stacking wood. There are also inside jobs to be done including some painting of furniture.I have a bad back at present so would be great if you can help.

I usually only have Helpx workers for 1 week and generally they do 4hrs in the morning so you can have the afternoon off to explore the region but if you want to do more and have a whole day off, I'm flexible.
The house is about a 10 min walk from main shopping area and about 5 mins from Victoria lake and and the Whanganui river is close by. There are a number of tramps in the area and the beach not too far away.

I live with Sambucca [a cat] and Maxwell [a dog] so animal lovers are important. I have 2 comfortable double bedrooms with your own bathroom.

No smokers please and let me know if you have any special diet requirements. No Problems if your english is limited, t... more inside
