I have spent the last two years restoring the house and taking her back to as she would have been when first built . The inside is nearly finished .The house is 10 minutes walk to the CBD and 5 minutes walk to the lake . I like my helpers to do the work in the mornings So they have the afternoons off to explore . I have back problems and need help In the gardens , painting , some building work in the kitchen , weeding and other general household work . Nothing to hard or to stressful . For 2 hours work I provide a large private room and the use of the kitchen etc or for 4 hours 3 meals provided .I am flexible so if you wanted the day off you could do extra work one day and have the next off . I like my helpx to stay a week or longer by negotiation. A warm welcome awaits you . Don`t worry if your English ... more inside

WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WITH A DRONE TO MAKE A VIDEO OF OUR PLACE FOR OUR WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA

We run a tourist accommodation business with a difference. We are situated on the banks of the Whanganui River, surrounded by the Whanganui National Park, however the only access to our property is via boat or, the more popular option, by aerial cable car (the flying fox).
We are located 45km from Whanganui township with road access to the cable way via a beautiful scenic 45 min drive. Due to the rural location own transport is preferred as this will also enable you to explore the local area during time off.
We have various accommodation options including camping, glamping and self contained cottages. We also provide catering for some guests. Our accommodation is unique in that it is all built from reclaimed materials and therefore is rustic and quirky! We are off-grid for everything except electricity and have no cell phone access although we do have internet avai... more inside

Sorry, but I am not available to host until further notice.

Comfortable home overlooking this lovely historical river city. Walking distance into town. For 4 hours of your help, I offer 3 meals daily, or work for only 2 hours with use of kitchen to prepare your own meals if you prefer. Length of stay by negotiation, usually up to one week. Whanganui is a delightful west coast town, set on the shores of the Whanganui River, with a typical wild and rugged west coast beach to explore. Many artists have made Whanganui their home, so there are galleries and places of interest to visit.

We are a small rural outdoor education/camp facility mainly hosting school groups, based a short distance from Wanganui. You will get the opportunity to try a number of activities while here including kayaking, Stand up paddle board, target shooting, water slide and swimming, archery. Nearby beaches, The Whanganui river and rural life in NZ.

We have our main camp season during school terms 1 + 4 (October – Dec + Feb – May) so have a mix of work around the camp and in the kitchen. Happy to host a couple, we would add some variety into the mix, possibly some gardening and property care etc depends on your skills.
There is always plenty of things that need to be done, from machinery maintenance, grounds maintenance, construction and repairs to helping build a website. The camp season dictates what the priority is but outside of that its generally flexible. I do my best to show my helpers around and usually take them out if they don’t have a vehicle and generally try to include th... more inside
