We are a small farm in the Martinborough/Carterton area in the Wairarapa. We have sheep, some dairy house cows, and a few young cows, as well as growing our own vegetables and perhaps a crop to 2. The property is a newly built house, The property is in a stunning position overlooking the Tararua ranges and the Raumahanga River valley. We are within 20 minutes drive from the local towns, and 90 minutes from Wellington.
We will be needing some help to rebuild an old shed and a few other buildings as well as helping out, milking Lucy the house cow, making butter, maybe some Mozzarella!

*** we have room for a couple or 2 friends during lockdown***

We are situated in the picturesque Pohangina Valley on a 10 acres lifestyle block. This is about 25 kms (25 mins) from Palmerston North. We can arrange for you to be picked up from Palmerston North if you don't have your own transport.

Our home is next to a river which is great for swimming and fishing. Great place to be in summer. We are also close to several walks but you will need transport to get to them.

We mostly have a furry family consisting of 2 dogs (inside), 4 cats, 1 goat, sheep, cows, Sophie the calf, chickens and ducks.

You must like animals, as most of ours are pets and love attention. The dogs and cats are allowed inside and will sit in the couch.

There is a variety of things that we need help with, gardening, painting, firewood and general chores around the property. Included in this would be caring for the animals. Sophie the calf loves to be brushed as does Lulu the goat.

Some of the info below may not be relevant during the lockdown period.
Fire wood, food harvest and preserving, wine making (first trial, be patient), weeding.

We invite you to grow your own food, home school the kids (7 and 10), learn about herbs and make your own cremes/medicine/cleaning products, swim in the river, come fishing, tramping, mountain biking, to the beach/waterski park, support the household as well as lifestyle block and have fun with our family of four. Grandma is next door and I am a qualified yoga teacher if that is something you are interested in.

Sorry no space available at the moment. If you are keen on being part of finishing our Straw Bale house or just helping out with our animals and gardening, this is the place for you. We are a down to earth kiwi family of five who live on a unique block of land just an hour north of our creative capital Wellington.

We run a local tourist attraction by the name of Loco. A 1/4 acre of miniature railway running through themed surroundings in lush gardens. There is also a newly developed petting zoo which is getting lots of smiles.

We also have an organic garden which we use for ourselves and trade for local produce.

You'll be accomodated in your own room with en-suite bathroom in our straw bale house with views of the ranges and Kapiti Island.

Most of the work we would ask you to do is in the garden, general weeding and tidying, some firewood chopping, animal care and help with finishing our Strawbale house. If you can cook, that would be a bonus.

We live 6 kms from ... more inside

Sorry, I am having to self isolate and can't take anybody at the moment.
I am building my dream "earthship[" tyre/earth house. I need volunteers for building and backup-(kitchen, garden etc), I am at a stage in the building where a good push will see the end of the tyre work and the builders can come in and frame up so that the roof can go on before winter sets in.
I am 1 hour north of Wellington. I live a simple, productive lifestyle, producing most of my own food Because I produce my own meat and have a meat based diet vegetarians will have to take responsibility for providing their own protein requirements. I do cook lots of Vegetables. I have wifi, bush sleepouts, compost toilet, outside bushbath, greywater system. I have chickens, ducks sheep and fruit and Vege garden. Bikes available, township 10 min, beach 20 min ride away.

******March 2020 Update*******
We are looking for people that have their own camper van, caravan, tent or mobile home to stay with us.
We don't have accomodation available in the house currently due to renovations but you are welcome to use all our facilities. We have a good flat parking area next to the house and even a camper power point available. We will of course cover all meals and you are welcome to do laundry.
At the moment we really need some help with our gardens as full time work off farm and homeschooling is not giving us enough time. We have a greenhouse, a large berry house and now want to establish more perennial gardens.
*************

We are a 5 person family that lives and co-parents together. John is working on setting up New Zealand's largest cricket farm, Dave runs a tech company and Karen is home with the girls. We have our 2 gorgeous daughters - Holly (7) and Lexie (4). Holly is homeschooled and Lexie is at preschool only 3 days a week, so we would love ... more inside

We live 10 minutes drive south of Levin and 15 minutes north of Otaki in a rural area called Kuku, Ohau on 1 hectare. It is important for you to have your own vehicle as there is no public transport in Kuku.

We are interested in volunteers from April 2020 onwards.

We value organic and healthy living. Couples and solo travellers are welcome, but it is nicer if there are 2 of you as we may not be home all the time. My husband works at the local Maori University in environmental science and I am working in Mental Health.

Jobs on the property include, work in the gardens, property/house maintenance, animal care and household chores. Most jobs here are very physical so a good level of strength and fitness is required. We have chickens, a dog, a cat and 2 horses that require care.

We live 15 minutes cycle from the beach and 10 minutes drive from the hills. So walking, swimming, biking and surfing are things we like to do and can try to help facilitate visitors to do also(h... more inside

We need help.....

General chores around our home and small farm including riding horses if you are capable. We have horses, dogs, cats and chickens.

Musicians are most welcome.
Situated close to Greytown in the Wairarapa. Swimming pool and hot tub. We love wine and will tour the wineries at an excuse. Our household consists of adults and animals

For more information on the region http://wairarapanz.com/
http://www.newzealand.com/int/wairarapa/

The Wairarapa is a large region with a very low population with an average of 7 people per kilometre. There is transport to the area but transport around the Wairarapa is minimal so getting around without a car is extremely difficult. If you love big skies, nature, food and wine our region is for you.

Kia ora, I'm Beka :) We are a queer/lgbt liberal family ( Mother and daughter) We live a busy lifestyle, I work for the Public Service Association (biggest trade union in New Zealand)and am involved in the NZ Labour party. My daughter Octavia is 16 years old and is finishing her final years at high school. She is passionate about social justice and climate action. We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic travellers, who would help out with cooking, cleaning, gardening, animal care, property maintenance and what ever projects are on the go. As we are time poor. We have 3 big dogs so travellers must be confident and loving with animals- although the dogs are not dangerous they can be excitable and can need time getting to know you. Particular interest in travellers from Spanish speaking countries (I was a A.F.S exchange student in Costa Rica many years ago and my daughter is learning Spanish) but welcome travellers from anywhere in the world as we enjoy learning about other cultu... more inside

We are looking for people to help us around the house both inside and out as well as some light on farm work. Richard will try and explain what we`re doing on the farm at the time of year, give you a tour around the farm and where able involve you in some of the jobs when handling the animals. As mentioned we are 25 mins east of Masterton and only an hour and a half from Wellington. Accommodation is in with us, with a double bed (plus another mattress which can go on the floor). We'd prefer to host meat eaters as it can make meal times a bit easier for us, however its good to have a mixed diet nowadays!. We feel we`re... more inside
