Kia Ora Koutou

We are YOUNG couple in our early 40s with four children aged 16, 14, 11 and 10. We manage a large sheep and cattle station on the Coast of the lower North Island with 20,000 stock units of sheep and beef cattle. Check out the station facebook page "owahanga station" for more information.

We are looking for helpers to come and stay with us and help out with farm tasks, gardening, farm maintenance and general tasks around the home. There is lots of variation in the types of jobs that we need help with and anyone with practical skills and experience would be super. Working with livestock does require skills and experience so sometimes it is not possible for helpers to work with the stock much but that is not always the case and at certain times of the year, there will be plenty of work with stock to do. However, there are plenty of other tasks to do like cutting and stacking wood, painting, weed spraying and the like if there isn't much happening with stock.

Hey guys,
No one ever has lived on this piece of land before we've purchased it and we developing the land from scratch, so you could call us pioneers ;)
The property is 20acres and half of it is covered with beautiful native bush with a huge variety of native trees like Totara, Kaekatea, Matai, Rimu to name a few. The other half is mostly pines (weeds!) we are taking out at the moment and replacing them with natives. We also going to establish an orchard (fruits, nuts etc) and veggie gardens (all organic!) and have to build many structures, mostly earth buildings.
There is a stream and a decent size waterfall on our land also. The water we using comes from our clean spring. We are totally off the grid, producing our own power. We`ve got showers and composting toilets in place.
So far it`s 5 of us on the land. My wife Ragna, our son Samson, our other son Maximilian, Hokee the cat and me, Alex :)
There are so many projects going on right now and we could need anybody with a good... more inside

We have a 880 Ha. sheep and beef farm on the South East coast of New Zealand overlooking the beautiful Castlepoint. Half of this property has been returned to forestry (mostly native) as a means of preserving the environment and mitigating against climate change. The farm has about 3 km of coastal frontage and the house is only a 3 minute walk from a beautiful sandy beach that stretches all the way down to Castlepoint.

Work on the farm involves managing sheep and cattle, maintenance of fences and buildings, controlling weeds and planting new trees. Around the house is a beautiful garden (which has been allowed to become very overgrown by the previous owners) which we also want to restore.

We also plan in the future to establish ecotourism facilities such as walking tracks, mountain biking, function hosting and accommodation.

Private bedroom accommodation will be provided in one of the 2 houses on the farm. Workawayers are expected to contribute to cooking and eat together w... more inside

Richard will try and explain what we`re doing on the farm at the time of year, give you a tour around the farm and where able involve you in some of the jobs when handling the animals. As mentioned we are 25 mins east of Masterton and only an hour and a half from Wellington. Accommodation is in with us, with a double bed (plus another mattress which can go on the floor). Hi travelers and explorers,
Need help please for June. House work and gardening and maybe feeding small pets. Not farm work. Quiet house.
We are a good place to stop if you are just about to go and explore the next island north or south. We are in the Wairarapa Wellington region. Nearest town is Masterton. Our nearest city is Wellington. Train between.
Nothing heavy or stressful, just general family help. Inside and outside. Gardening and housework.

We are a family of 5. We have three children at school. We have 2 horses(hunters), 1 puppy and 1 cat (she lives outside) and two guinea pigs and a rabbit. Veggie gardens and paddocks for the horses. We live in the countryside by a river, great for walks and swimming. We don't live on a working farm but do have a farm in another area. (You do not need horse knowledge.) If you can drive on the left or have your own car, it is helpful but not essential. We go to town every day and so does the neighbour if you want to ... more inside

We are here for a good time but getting the jobs done is important. So a sense of humour and commitment is needed. Unable to cater for specific dietary needs.
