We are a family of four (children aged 7 and 10 years), living in a five bedroom home with a big garden, chickens, a boisterous puppy and two cats. Our children are home-schooled.

We are looking for help with child care and running the household. This involves cleaning, cooking and spending time with the children. We are also keen on help with landscaping, gardening and basic building work.

We ask for four hours work per day in exchange for a place to sleep (in your own room) and yummy, fresh, home-cooked meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, aswell as morning tea. We look after you well, but expect good work in return. No smokers please

We are an adventurous family and love having fun in the outdoors- kayaking, bush walking, biking and rock-climbing.

We live in a lovely little, friendly village that is a short 40-50 minute drive or train ride from Wellington city. We live close to beautiful beaches and a fantastic National Park. Paraparaumu township (where the... more inside

//Booked until end Oct, looking for help from 1st week November until Christmas//

Come and stay with our family of 5 on our lifestyle block in the leafy suburb of Te Horo, on the Kapiti Coast. We have recently moved back to NZ after travelling extensively for 19 years abroad.

There is some work to do around the property helping me cut hedges, general gardening and clearing maintenance and is largely manual labour. Our house can be noisy thanks to our 5yo, 4yo and 11 month old (plus a dog, a cat and 5 chickens) but we like to laugh and we have a lot of fun. We have a French Au Pair that also lives with us.

In exchange for 25 hours work a week you receive free accommodation (a large room that can either be setup as a King bed or two singles, with ensuite), food for breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided for you to prepare and we have wi-fi available. We eat dinner quite early due to the young kids so generally we’ve found helpx’ers prefer to eat later which is absolutely fi... more inside

We are a family of four living our dream on a beautiful farm that is only 25 minutes away from Wellington City. There are lots of beautiful walks around the farm. The wind farm is our neighbor so also offers lots of walks. Most days you can see the South Island from the end of our road. Makara beach is a 5 minute drive from the farm. The farm is very peaceful. We are needing help with housework, gardening and cooking. We have been on the farm 5 years. We have lots of animals 3 dogs,2 cats, chickens and pet sheep so you will need to like animals :) I sometimes foster kittens and we have baby lambs in spring that need looking after. We are 30 minutes from Wellington City. You will need your own transport as there is no buses to our farm but if you don't have a car you can get a lift into town with family when they go in. We offer board, food and Wifi at the house for 4 hours work. You will have a cabin that ha... more inside

Hi there, we will be open to host Helpx again from 20 October 2018. we offer space for a couple. We have a large garden and outbuildings so we need mainly help with the garden. We live on 2 acres overlooking the countryside and the Tararua hills. We are walking distance to the beautiful heritage village of Greytown (recently won the title of most beautiful village in NZ) with its cafes and shops. But to get further than the village you will need a car or van as public transport is very limited. The Pinnacles and Rivendell (both featured in LoTR) are with one hour`s drive. We are also a short drive from Mt Bruce with its Kiwi house and white Kiwi. We have two friendly dogs and a friendly cat. It`s a 55 minute drive to Wellington CBD and a one hour train ride.

You would have either a self-contained cottage in our garden or our spare bedroom, with Queen Bed depending on homestay bookings - our paying guests get priority for the cottage! The work is mainly gardening and cleani... more inside

We are a friendly household with a child, a dog, 5 chickens and a small spray-free veggie garden.
Our place is located adjacent to and overlooking beautiful NZ bush as well as stunning views over Wellington harbour.
We are bi-lingual English/German and some rudimentary French.
We have had people from Germany, UK, USA, Sweden, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Martinique, Italy, France, Tahiti, Malaysia and Catalonia stay with us and always had great fun.

We require 4 hrs work from you every day, doing a variety of jobs around the house, the section (garden) and help with the animals. Work involves general housekeeping, help around the house, walking the dog, looking after the chichen, weeding, possibly some fencing and other gardening. You must be good with children, animals and not be afraid to get stuck into the garden in any weather and be happy to do household chores.

No smoking on the property.

We provide a separate bedroom, bathroom and WiFi.
We cook healthy meals ... more inside

I am German and have lived in New Zealand for 20 years. My two children live here half the week (4yr and 16yr), which tends to be the more social half of the week (other half I work a lot). We have a Kiwi dog, 6 kiwi chickens and 2 Kiwi guinea pig.

Only five minutes drive from Hutt city, or 20 min to Wellington by train.

We live amidst a very beautiful native bush setting with a small stream running through the property, lots of Fantail, Kererus, Tui and other native birds. Enjoy unlimited access to the bush via walking tracks which go right to the top of the hills above Wainuiomata via fire breaks, or take a quick 20-minute loop walk to work up an appetite before dinner.

Right now I am looking for someone mainly for painting, gardening work and some cleaning. Anyone with woods skills would also be very handy. If you can handle a chainsaw let me know! You must be happy to work if it's raining as most work is outdoors.

The suggested arrangement is for you to work ... more inside

great views of Kapiti Island, Mana Island and the South Island. Great swimming and walking. Beautiful sunsets. A few minutes walk to Queen Elizabeth park and its great walking tracks with more spectacular views. I was on a farm prior to coming here which accounts for one or two of the older host reviews.
Accommodation is bottom-storey bedroom with bathroom next door. You will be working with one woman and two very friendly dogs.Three meals per day provided. Work could include gardening and landscaping, small renovation projects, cutting kindling and firewood, interior decorating, fence maintenance, assistance with art work and occasionally assisting with hanging art exhibitions.I am currently wanting help with cutting and stacking wood for which electric saws will be provided and with making some raised gardens. I take only one person at a time and do not take smokers.

We are a family living in Wellington with a big back yard that needs clearing and a vege garden. Hugh is an architect and I am a psychotherapist. We have 16 year old and 20 year old children and our granny lives in the front of our house, and we have a dog called locky. We have plenty of room for an individual or couple to stay and there is a bathroom for visitors. We love being cooked for especially different nationality dishes. We need help with our outdoors and sometimes we need help with dinner (busy at work). We are 10 mins from the centre of the city and we are on a bus route. We also have a block of land up the coast that we are gradually working on which if it suits eemsy ask for help with. We are on south coast so beautiful walks nearby.

Hi, we live in Wellington in two old, turn of the century, historic cottages (1860`s) that are 200 paces above the street, private, set in the bush amongst the song of tui and kaka. It is an easy 20 minute walk into the central city.

Note: we are not a farm.

We are self-employed, busy and very hands on in all that we do. We are a couple with two adult daughters, one has recently returned home to live with us.
We provide all your food and accommodation, in exchange for about 8 hours help on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and 4 hours on Thursday. This gives you a 3 day weekend to explore and relax. (The hours can vary depending on whether we are in a middle of a job that must get finished - for example - building a roof before it rains). The accommodation is rough at the moment as we are in the middle of renovating these old cottages... if you don`t expect a palace you will be fine.

We need your skills in one of these areas:
1. Building and restoring the ... more inside

Come and stay in our own private little valley and immerse yourself in the sounds of the babbling stream and birdsong. Enjoy the feeling of being out of the hustle and bustle while being just 10 minutes from Lower Hutt CBD.

More of a massive garden than a farm, there's never a shortage of jobs to do :).

At the moment we're looking for someone to help with building/rebuilding some fences, moving mulch around and collecting/chopping firewood.

Apart from that, outdoors there's general gardenening maintenance; weeding; fruit picking (in season); fixing up fences and steps and things; moving things around; feeding chickens and sheep; etc; etc. Inside (for rainy days) we might ask you to help with cooking; cleaning; maintenance and other projects.

Accomodation is dependent on when you come and who else is here. You might be in a private room in a separate (shared) building with shared bathroom, in the house, or for the truly adventurous, in the cabin.

We currently ... more inside
