Hello HelpXers,
We have a 5 acre farm, 300 metres from Ruby Bay beach. Ruby Bay is conveniently between Nelson and Abel Tasman National Park.
We have a beautiful established garden, vegetable plot and orchard. We also raise rare breed pigs (Large Black or Devons), chickens, American bronze turkeys, Khaki Campell ducks and a few sheep. We also have two beautiful riding horses. Our 4 bedroom farmhouse is comfortable and cosy and has beautiful views out to the ocean. We both work full-time, use one bedroom in our house as an AirBnB so are looking for help with gardening, animal husbandry, firewood, cleaning and various other odd jobs as the seasons dictate. We are able to be flexible about helping hours, normally between 4 and 5 hours per day. In return we are able to provide a pleasant environment to stay, 3 meals per day, WiFi and offer horse riding for experienced horse riders.
Happy if you want to send a text message and we can discuss further.
Take care regards Irene and Nelson

We have a lovely lifestyle block with chickens, cows and cats. We have a new modern guest house available for hard-working folks happy to help out with various projects around the property, including gardening, landscaping, building and improving our mountain bike and jump track, eliminating weeds like old man's beard, blackberry and gorse, some house cleaning, general weeding, cutting fire wood, and other non-technical chores. The majority of our tasks suit physically fit individuals who enjoy working in the outdoors.

We are flexible about which days you work so you can maximise your enjoyment of the region.

We are avid mountain bikers and more than happy to give you local trail advice (you would need your own bikes or to hire some) around the region. Nelson is simply incredible for mountain bikers!

Note: We have our very own downhill mountain bike pump and jump track — 400m or so ready to ride, and we are keen for your help to make it even more awesome! The trail always r... more inside

LOOKING FOR HELPERS - MAINLY WEEDING/GARDENING/LANDSCAPING! A COUPLE WOULD BE IDEAL :)

Hello! We would be happy to have a sociable and friendly single person or couple to volunteer on our small farm and pear orchard. We are a young family with two children and a baby.

Volunteering activities would mainly include gardening, weeding and mulching, and native habitat restoration. We are always keen to have volunteers who are interested in learning more about our farming practices, vegetable gardening, and the regeneration projects we have underway. We enjoy getting to meet people from around the globe and hear about your travel stories.

This is not paid work. Nevertheless we are required by law to check you are legally allowed to work in New Zealand. It is mandatory that you have a working holiday visa as a volunteer. Our volunteers generally help us out for around 3 hours per day, 6 days a week - but we are fairly flexible about how our volunteers structure their time so th... more inside

Kia ora.
Welcome to a great New Zealand cafe.
Judy and I are a hard working and fun loving couple and are looking for the same. We need helping hands in our large organic gardens, the cafe and with our accommodation. Sometimes there are art and natural building projects as well.
Practical hands are always welcome, bring your energy and enthusiasm.
There is separate accommodation for a couple.
Close to the beach and enroute to the Able Tasman.
We appreciate at least 3 days notice before we have helpers to stay and will reply to your enquiries within 2 days.
There is a no bus service to Tasman, the nearest bus depot is Motueka, 10km away. We can arrange to pick you up from here if necessary. It is easier if you have your own transport.
Kind regards,
Judy and Steve.

Looking for a beautiful spot, right on the waterfront, in your own little appartment, with amazing views, close to the Abel Tasman?

We are a family of five, originally from the Netherlands, but who have managed to escape the rain and 'flat-ness' and are now living in the most magical spot on the waterfront (see the view from our veranda below) in Riwaka/Motueka, close to the Abel Tasman.

Suzanne works as a GP and Michiel is works doing projects for DOC. Our 3 kids (2, 5 and 8 years old) do need care and attention which makes life busy at times.

As we travelled lots ourselves we love meeting travellers from different countries, hearing your stories and showing you what life in this area can be like. We love the outdoors and there are many opportunities here for f.e. tramping, mountain biking and kayaking.

We are looking for a positive and energetic couple or traveller, who love(s) kids. As we have a separate sleep out, you will be able to have your own space to hav... more inside

I have a lovely house on the Grampian hills, just at the back of Central Nelson, with great views over the city and Tasman bay.
It is within easy walking distance in to town; about 10-15 mins, a little more to come back up the hill.
I am looking for someone who might want to stay for a few days to a week, possibly a bit more.
I would like some help with planting an area of my garden, and dong some painting. I also have a few other odd jobs; spring cleaning, window cleaning etc. Also some help with the normal household things, cleaning and cooking. The arrangement would be flexible, up to 4hrs work a day including sharing preparation of evening meals.
I am a Francophile who speaks quite a bit of French but not fluently, so I am particularly interested in hosting French speaking people.
My farvourite saying in French is "mon Francais est tres rouille'!!"
You would be very comfortable in my house with your own double bedroom. My place is non-smoking. Please let me know if yo... more inside

We offer accommodation and work from August 2020 onward. We are a busy family of 6 living just out of Motueka but commuting 5 minutes to town several days a week for kids schooling and activities, and work. We live in the beautiful Motueka Valley in a little village development offering stunning views, wonderful community, safe neighborhood walks and nearby river for summer swimming :) We ask approximately four hours work per day per person, and as we have just built our house tasks can include painting, weeding, light landscaping, scrub cutting, planting, watering, child minding, house cleaning, dog walking, feeding chooks/guinea pigs, cooking meals and taking care of laundry (never ending -!) We are especially keen for French speaking visitors and people not shy to share stories and songs from their cultures with our children. We welcome anyone knowledgeable in yoga also and helping us and children in this can be part of the work! We offer lunch and dinner daily. Depending o... more inside

Do you enjoy a place with two friendly people, an awfully affectionate cat, who dribbles, and around Christmas a whole tribe of adult daughters with kids and we plan to have fun!

There's a good mix of things to do: Looking after garden, house and each other, making music, preserving fruit, generally enjoying life.

Our place is in easy walking distance of the city centre, but still quiet and private.
It's like being in the country.

There is a general shop within a few minutes walk and a bus stop down the road.

The house is surrounded by green hills, with some of Nelson's best walks and mountain bike tracks right around the house.

We (meaning us two, Ian and Eva) have had so much fun with some of you, and love HelpXers who enjoy what we are doing.
Eva is a Homoeopath and always studying, Ian is an Engineer and tells terrible jokes.

We often share our evening meal with our helpers (and thanks to you lovely helpers who have returned the favour, too! Yum.).

We c... more inside

We’re available from mid-late August for anyone wanting to stay and help.

We have a small block of ex-forestry land upon which we built our house. We are now working on developing the surrounding land into native regeneration, fruit trees, vegetable and berry gardens and general landscaping. We have chickens, a cat and a couple of kids (3 & 5) who are getting good at teaching English to our foreign workers (the kids are, not the chickens). Accommodation is a small separate hut on the bush fringe with a queen bed, a composting toilet and your own outside kitchen area with fridge etc.

We need help with planting, weeding (digging out blackberry, gorse etc) and scrub-cutting, general garden development, spreading bark and mulch, mowing lawns (in spring especially), stacking fire-wood etc. Hanging out playing with and reading to the kids is a bonus (we think so anyway). We enjoy good food, good company and value the cultural exchange as well, and helping out those who help us wher... more inside
