This place is known up and down the Coast in its former life as a Buddhist retreat, workshop space, honeymoon house, holiday house. Situated on the hillside view ocean views, the house was once part of a commune, and before that, gold mining took place on the ridges around the house. Close to the Paparoa National Park and only 10 minutes from world-famous Punakaiki in one direction, and 2.2km from Fox River in the other, we are surrounded by beautiful native bush, an abundant birdlife, and a feast of kai moana (seafood).
Now we live here and run accommodation in the summer months and in the winter have all sorts of jobs that need to be done - labouring, digging, gardening, cleaning, tidying, and a multitude of odd jobs.we also have a beautiful friendly dog.
Ideally we would like helpers to stay at least a few nights. In exchange for jobs, we provide a lovely cabin, meals and loads of stories about life in NZ!

Our next space is from 24th january. We live on a small NZ farm (280 hectare) but is a lovely spot to live and look out to the mountains and the bush. I can get you from Greymouth or possibly Reefton = if you do not have a car. We say yes often to solo travellers. We also say yes to couples but not as often.

We have working 5 farm dogs and 1 puppy born end of September. Many helpers fall in love with Ted a beardie/huntaway breed of dog. He is always getting pats and is our most photographed pet.

We live on a sheep and deer farm about 30 minute drive to Greymouth. We love the outdoor attractions on the west coast. Loads of stunning walks, caving, biking and adventure to be had.

One of my biggest enjoyments is showing others what we cook for dinner and then sitting down and eating as a family. We enjoy sharing stories and laughs over a cup of tea. We can explain a few aspects of farming if you are interested in knowing more. We like talking while having a cup of te... more inside

Just a peaceful place that needs some t.l.c. every once and a while, like gardening, creating and cleaning, depending on the weather. Were a couple, with a 19 year old, and we love to hear about what's happening in the world, from different perspectives.. Were not traveling at present, so this is the next best thing.... having someone in our home, helping, sharing and learning. . ..
I love dancing, music, and arts which is included in our home environment. Riding motor bikes, or a little game of table tennis, creating trails, riding on the bicycle trails, hiking, & watching sun sets. Never boring around here for me, I am in the process of becoming more self sufficient, planted 20 trees. Creating new gardens, wanting to create a medicinal garden this year.
The more alive our food is the better, for all of us ~_0
If you would like to help me learn about life, I would like to hear from you.
My husband is a local, born and bread, along with his father, and grandfather, and gr... more inside

Hi I am an artist/musician and traveller. I like doing yoga and meditation most days.I am always happy to meet other travellers to share knowledge and life experience. As well as English I speak Italian.

I am looking for help on my property which I am developing as a nature retreat. It is a great place to re centre and recharge. It would suit people who are nature lovers who like being off the beaten track. There is no wifi or TV and only limited text coverage. Phone reception only if the gods are happy!

I enjoy meeting people from around the world to share knowledge, experiences, work and hopefully some laughs together.I am new to using helpx.I opened an account years ago and then went travelling shortly after. I am finally in a position to host again. I do however have some previous experiences living in small communities overseas and have experience hosting travellers and being hosted.I did a Permaculture Course about 5 years ago and am trying to put that into practice so p... more inside

Looking for someone who is keen to work with animals or in the garden and not afraid to get their hands dirty!!

My husband (33) and I (30) own a dairy farm running 251 cows on the west coast of the South Island. We are situated right on the bush line and get a gorgeous view of the southern alps. Spring time - when the calves arrive (August - October), is our busiest time of the year. We rear all of the calves and milk the cows once a day in the morning times. We've also recently become a family of 3, our daughter is 2.5 yrs old. We'd love to host someone that is either interested in the farming side of things, rearing calves, fencing, spraying weeds, feeding out (general farm tasks) OR minding our daughter, taking her for walks or just entertaining her, along with jobs around the house, windows etc, possibly some cooking if you like cooking! Im also a keen vege gardner - which always needs some TLC.
It would be great if helpers could work at least 4-5hrs per day, for each ni... more inside
