We want to produce more food on our urban, organic 1/3 acre and could use help with gardening work. Some of this work is light and some requires strength for digging and carrying.

There is a bee hive and some shiitake mushroom growing logs that may need watering.

Usually we also have house maintenance jobs of one kind or another.

Our 1906 villa sits on a north-facing hillside. It takes 40-50 minutes to walk here from Dunedin city centre. Two bus routes stop nearby. Helpers have their own room and share our bathroom. We eat a little meat and fish but are primarily vegetarian ---- and can host vegans who do not mind what we eat. Our family has a young man with intellectual disability.

We ask you to stay for 2 weeks, which may suit those who have been moving around without pause. St Clair beach and salt water pool are a 30-minute walk. There are a number of good walking tracks in the area. If you have a car, you can easily travel to beaches to watch seals, penguins or sea ... more inside

We live in a small cottage on the banks of the Clutha river 1.5km out of Roxburgh and over look the Clutha Gold cycle trail. We have a house cow which I milk daily and like to make yoghurt cheese and yoghurt and also our own butter when there is a surplus of cream. We have a lovely cottage garden and also like to grow our own vegetables and live out of our garden. In the summer time I like to make lots of relishes and chutneys as well as preserve fruit and make jam with all the beautiful fruit we grow here in the amazing Teviot Valley fruit bowl. We love knowing where are food comes from and just find it so satisfying to be able to grow and make so much of our food and we are also love to make our own homebrew beer and cider. We raise our own pork and I cure all our own bacon and smoke it traditionally in a smoker and have recently made our own sausages. ******** Carpenters always welcome ! ********

Hi! We are an Irish/French family of 5 living in Dunedin. We have a small garden around the house and we`re developing a second, more substantial, organic veggie garden. We`re also working on installing a container and building a new greenhouse.
Our aim, as always, is to grow as much of our own food as we can, focussing on permaculture and winter food. Our philosophy is to try to be as independent as possible and to know what we are eating !

We live in a suburb of Dunedin and are only 10 minutes from beautiful beaches (e.g. Blackhead and Tunnel) and only 15 minutes from the city centre. There`s a bus service to Dunedin centre and plenty of things to do there too. The Otago coastline is on our doorstep ! If you`re a surfer, you`re going to love it here.

We need help setting up the garden, container and greenhouse.
In general, you will be asked to help with a range of jobs like gardening, building, woodworking, cleaning, fe... more inside

Hi.

I am looking for someone right away to stay for 7 days and possibly longer. I am looking for someone who can help with the B&B, clean and you must also be happy to work outside (rake leaves, etc) in addition to the other tasks.

We offer accommodation in one of our guest rooms in exchange for 3 hours of work per person per day. You get your own room and your own bathroom. Work includes cleaning, gardening, light maintenance, possibly some painting and any other jobs we agree upon. Meals are NOT included but we do have a refrigerator you can use and you can use our kitchen.

It is helpful to have a car as we are not walking distance to supermarket but I have had a lot of HelpX without a car and they either take the bus (see Connectabus site for details - we are a 8 minute walk from the Amisfield stop), hitch-hike or catch a ride with me when I am going to the store, town, etc. The room I usually have for HelpX has either 2 singles or 1 king so can suit a couple or 2 fri... more inside
