We live in a small cottage on the banks of the Clutha river 1.5km out of Roxburgh and over look the Clutha Gold cycle trail. We have a house cow which I milk daily and like to make yoghurt cheese and yoghurt and also our own butter when there is a surplus of cream. We have a lovely cottage garden and also like to grow our own vegetables and live out of our garden. In the summer time I like to make lots of relishes and chutneys as well as preserve fruit and make jam with all the beautiful fruit we grow here in the amazing Teviot Valley fruit bowl. We love knowing where are food comes from and just find it so satisfying to be able to grow and make so much of our food and we are also love to make our own homebrew beer and cider. We raise our own pork and I cure all our own bacon and smoke it traditionally in a smoker and have recently made our own sausages. We are a family of 3 with my partner working full time in the building industry and I work part time as a baker in a cafe and we h... more inside

We have had a lifestyle block for the last five years and want to make ourselves semi self sufficient. We are intending to have an Organic garden with composting and worm farm which we have started. We have also started breeding chickens, also bantams. Donald works 55 hours a week and I am unable to do any heavy work due to back surgery. we have a 3 bedroom home with plenty of room also an outside room which we are hoping to convert into private accommodation. We are looking for people who are interested in gardening and anyone who knows about trees as we have over 60 mature trees that have never been pruned. We have two dogs 3 cats, and as I used to work as an Auxiliary Officer for the NZSPCA in Oamaru, most of our animals are rescues. We have plenty outside work in the garden, and we are very flexible with stays, from a couple of days to a few weeks. We can offer a car if necessary. The lakes up to mount cook are not far from here, and a lot of camping areas are also close. We ar... more inside

Te Nohoaka o Tukiauau / Sinclair Wetlands is regarded as the largest and most important privately owned wetland in New Zealand!
Wetlands are now really rare, New Zealand has sadly destroyed more that 90% of these important eco-systems, they have been drained, filled and replaced with farmland and settlements. As people, we really need wetlands, they filter water, protect us from flooding and erosion. Wetlands host more wildlife than any other habitat type, 30% of our native freshwater fish, nearly a quarter of our native birds and over 450 native plants species live in wetlands! Wetlands are culturally very significant and were used by Maori as Mahinga Kai sites (gathering grounds)

In exchange for accommodation we require helpers for maintenance, up keep and enhancement of this wetland.
Sinclair Wetlands is managed by a non profit organisation (Charitable Trust - not a business) therefore we are unable to provide food, transport or any luxuries like wi-fi etc. (However, we ca... more inside

SEEKING HELPXERS FOR JANUARY, FEBRUARY, OR MARCH 2019.WE NEED HELPXERS TO HELP US WITH HOUSE PAINTING IN JANUARY FROM JANUARY 10TH ONWARDS.

We live on an eco homestead in the heart of Oamaru--the coolest, funkiest town in New Zealand! There is a blossoming community of artists, musicians, and people with projects here. We are well known for our Victorian architecture and local colonies of penguins. Sophia first came here on a cycle tour in 2006 around the South Island and now lives here permanently--Oamaru is the kind of place you just want to stay! Marky grew up here, ventured the world and loved Oamaru so much he came home.

We own houses that are next door to each other and we are developing our dream of an eco homestead, and an eco-village eventually! Sophia works as the manager of the local community gardens and Asta la Pasta. Marky is a handy man and pasta chef. Our flatmate Alex is an electrician. Hello,

We are a young farming couple with a one year old boy. We need help around the house and garden and sometimes on the farm. We always have a project happening

Having both traveled we understand the life of a backpacker and we enjoy meeting people from other cultures.

We live in an amazing part of the country, plenty to see and do in the Catlin's area, walking, wildlife and the sea on our doorstep.

We involve you into our life as much as possible and we have many memorable times with helpers in the past.
You are not expected to look after our child although if we had the right helper some child minding opportunities may be discussed.

We expect 4-5 hours work per day for food and accommodation.

You MUST have your own vehicle as we want you to get out and about and make the most of the amazing place we live in.

We are located in the Caitlin's a 20 minutes drive from Owaka, 25 minutes drive from Balclutha, with fishing, tramping, surfing all very close. Alth... more inside
