We are not having anyone to stay in our home at the moment due to the virus. However if you are in a vehicle with accommodation and need somewhere to park while the lock down is in place we have an area with power and water supply that can be used. You would need to supply your own food etc but we are able to set up other services. We offer this to help if your situation is difficult. Normal helpx rules won't apply but we will discuss help you may be able to give us in a safe way for us all.

Our previous Helpx enjoyed staying with us, check out our reviews!

Hi! We're a fun family on a lifestyle block with horses, chickens and a pet lamb called Maddie, not far from Christchurch.

We have a separate 21 foot tiny home for you to stay in by yourself, this has a kitchen, lounge, bed and bathroom. It's away from our place, so you have some privacy.

You can stay in the camper on our property in exchange for 2.5 hrs work a day, 5 days per week.

--- !! Preferably you will have mechanical, building, handyman, engineering or carpentry skills and experience. However, we do also have some gardening/ maintenance etc to do and if you're open to trying something new, then you might learn some new skills too.

You do need to be willing to get stuck in and think on your feet, although all instruction will be given.

We can't offer meals at this point (tho we'll have you round for some social meals), but cooking facilities and fridge are in the camper.

We're open to all nationalities, as long as you can fulfill the above requirements... more inside

Late March/April 2020 - harvest

We are looking for a couple or friends to help us with our harvest for up to 10 days, 4 hours a day in March, on our 10 acre hazelnut property. If you enjoy being outdoors, this is a job for you and we would love to hear from you.

Farms are full of hazards, so we do not take workers or helpers, we are looking at sharing our culture and local knowledge with travellers.

We will provide accommodation, good food for breakfast, lunch and dinner (happy for you to share the cooking) 1 loving cat that loves attention and of course everyone needs wifi!! We would love to hear from you if your interested and enjoy the outdoors.
Thanks

****Hi there. I'm sorry; I'm not able to offer accommodation or work at the moment. Take care.****

Hi there.
I am a woman in my mid-50's and I have a little farmyard paradise in the middle of the city of Christchurch, with large organic vegetable gardens, fruit and nut trees and chickens. Most people say it's like being in the country.

I'm 10 minutes drive/Lime scooter or 30 minutes walk from the inner city of Christchurch, 10-15 minutes drive from the beach and 10 minutes from The Tannery- a great place for live music with good beer and pizza. My two adult kids are in ChCh and are regular visitors, so you might meet them while you're here.

I usually ask my volunteers to work 5 hours a day for 5 days with 2 days off.
Some weeks, we'll work longer days and I'll give you 3 days off.

I like to feed our helpers well; I'm vegetarian and I don't like to cook meat or fish in the house, so I'm hoping you are OK with vegetarian food too. ... more inside

***UPDATE***

We have just accepted a couple. however, we may be able to help you from April! This would be particularly for anyone with online business skills; content creation, social media growth, blogging, videography or other ideas to help us generate income online.

We are a busy family of 5! We have energetic twins who love to socialise and a small baby.

Due to the current climate, we are seeking the following:

Person/Persons who have been in the country for a while and have not recently been in hostels/shared accomodation or other high risk scenarios.

We have a child who is immunocompromised and a family member also, and we are doing all we can to protect them.

We seek someone/persons who are happy to self isolate ANYWAY, when you arrive with us - we have accomodation available for this.

After that point, we will request that you adhere to conditions such as no social gatherings, public places etc until we know more about Covid19 in NZ. It is poss... more inside

We are a small family farm, currently milking 300 sheep once a day. My daughter, husband and I operate the farm, plus a burgeoning soap business using our sheep milk. We have had people stay and help before and enjoy different nationalities. We speak only English (sorry). We are seeking helpers willing to tame our garden, destroy our thistles, give the hedges a good haircut, help with cooking the evening meal, help out with the sheep if necessary, hose down after milking, box up soap orders and if you have the skills there is always fencing jobs and repairs to be done. Offering accommodation and food in exchange for 3 hours work per day, or a full day followed by days off.
We don't have a landline so you will need your own phone. We prefer that when working you do not have your phone on you - they are very hard to find in a paddock of long grass when lost. We have WiFi but it is not unlimited so we ask that you don't go watching movies over it. We have a tv in the lounge that you ... more inside

**sorry we are not taking helpx at this time**

Hi there,

We are a family of 4 living in our home nestled in the quaint valley of Heathcote in Christchurch. Our two boys, Ethan & Baxter are age 5 & 7. We also have a dog, Stella. Our home is new with 5 bedrooms, modern kitchen & great views. We live right on a bus stop that takes you in to town. We live 15min walk to the Christchurch Gondola & the beautiful, historic Bridal Path walk, as well as in the middle of lots of other amazing walking & Mountain Biking tracks on the Port Hills, and the beaches of Sumner & Taylors Mistake (great surfing & SUP). There are lots of great markets on near us in the weekends. Jeremy & I both come from Christchurch so can advise on you where you might like to travel to next! I have also lived overseas (Japan & London) so I know what it feels like to live far from family. I also work with international students. Our family loves cooking, eating, being at home & working in the garden, going on walk... more inside
