Current vacancy mid to late July, then (currently) booked until end Sptember

We need animal friendly (preferably rabies vaccinated but not compulsory; bloody government, stupid and pointless, regulations with regard to Flying Foxes) volunteers willing to pitch in for just about anything required to maintain the integrity and cleanliness of the wildlife enclosures.

Our needs are for general handyperson - or anyone who wants to help with `casual` labour plus the animal care......
The rainforest is a difficult environment, it is for the adventurous. Please – we only ask for resilient people who are ‘into’ the environment and wildlife. It does require commitment, compassion and a sense-of-humour – EVERY DAY!
PS: Please like cleaning (sweeping and washing down floors) – our animals need care.

From our recent experience with helpers, most say they should have organised to stay longer than 7-10 days

We are a young family of 3 (mum and 2 boys 5 and 7 years).

We live in an inner city apartment in brisbane, right on the river. So it's a great place to get to know the city by bike, walking, bus, train or citycat. There's also an onsite plunge pool, gym and bbq area, and visitor parking. This could be suitable for tourists or those looking for something to settle into before finding steady accomodation or work locally. It's a beautiful lifestyle as there is a cafe onsite, and also a large historical pub across the road.

I'm happy if you're keen to be social and do things together in Brisbane or down the coast - like being part of the family, the kids love that and we love meeting people from all backgrounds and showing them around brisbane. And if you want to be more independant that's all good also.

Work around the apartment could include usual housework such as cleaning, cooking, laundry, some help with the kids etc (such as school drop off/pick up, getting ready in the m... more inside

Update 17th June. Looking for a helpxer to start immediately and stay a few weeks (at least a week but talk to me anyway.)

brief notes below, we have a variety of jobs to be done, ask if any questions.

Jobs I need done this next week.

- digging dirt and laying pavers - a good job to do as you will learn skills and the photos of work in progress are good for proving yourself to future employers.

- some 12V electrical jobs. Will need to read electrical circuits, manuals, use a multimeter, search for help on internet. actually a good job if you are keen to learn new skills.

I generally do a deal for 2.5 hrs productive work per day (helpx nominates 3-4 hrs/day), byo food, full kitchen & laundry access provided, cook your own meals (because my hours are irregular), clean up after yourself properly and contribute to household cleaning. It's a good deal and if you can demonstrate good work, the 2.5 hrs can drop to 2hrs/day.

9pm noise curfew, we value our sleep.
